Downpipe and BOV Info

Everyone seams to be having issues with their downpipes causing cat codes. Well im happy to have figured out a way around this. I had an 08 put over 150 miles with out triggering a cat code. The car was turned on and of multiple times so it had plenty of time for it to kick in and so far no cels.

Also some of you are asking me about installing a BOV. I do have a kit for you guys, however I have not put it up on my site yet. I dont have a good picture of the full kit. Here are pix of the actual pipes minus the silicon couplers. These are full metal piping so no worry about the BOV flanges coming loost on the boost tube. Also with this setup I canned the fitting for the noise generator which i have no clue why they even made that on the car?
Thank the Lord for cel phone pix

Oh yeah, happy boosting guys!

$375 for the piping kit with silicon couplers and clamps etc. This adds HP and raises your boost.

Add $300 for the BOV. This will include a flange which I will weld into the pipe. This adds 0 hp. This adds quicker turbo recovery after the shift and prolongs the turbo life at higher boost.

Im sure i can add different colors to it. It takes longer and it cost a few bux more because my guy will have to setup his tooling etc just to spray 2 simple parts. Clean up is a pain. I get good deals on black and white because he sprays that often.

Since I currently run the Alta ones, why would you say your setup is better? I love the idea about the pipes being metal, instead of silicone. Anything else? Would be much appreciated as I am very interested in these now with thaat picture. Thanks!

Its poor practice to come out and say my piece is better than X piece. I never said that. Each setup has there plus and minus. A full silicon piece is usually easier to install vs a metal setup.

My main reason for doing metal is that ive scene many times before where a silicon piece that has a flange pressed into it would pop off. The neon srt4 silicon pipe had an HKS flange that would blow off teh pipe often, some would even tear. ALso there was a sensor on teh silicon pipe that would blow off.

OH yeah, if you have the alta pipes i would recommend you save your self a few bux and stay with it. No sence swapping out unless you want to go with an HKS BOV unit.

They are advantageous over the silicone because they don't flex/collapse/expand under various boost/vacuum conditions. And like he said, they don't pop off or tear. The end result is more sustained boost.

An example of this is the early Alta Turbo Inlet tubes which were collapsing under boost. Apparently they have now reinforced them better to prevent this, but this sort of thing is a non issue when you are using metal pipes!

RIght now i have blue silicons with the kit. I have to weld in the flange for you because once you powdercoat you cant weld on the pipe.

Give me a week or so to have the item ready on my site.

Thank you Thumper.

Ok, so heres my question, if I buy both pipes without the BOV, how is the cold side capped off? or is it? I'm just confused on what will become of that short little pipe? Thanks!

With the kit, you yank teh whole noise maker junk that goes into the firewall. Then you toss it as far as you can. YOu get one pipe that goes from the throttle to the plastic piping that sits on the right side of the block. ON that piece I install a flange for the HKS bov. YOu cant block it off once its made.

IF you want, i can make a setup where you can block it off then later on install an HKS simular to this evolution x setup I did:

http://srt4tech.com/exhaust/evox/hpevo7.JPG

I did not add that feature to the price as I was not planing on offering it but if you need it i guess i can do it.

The hot side pipe (from turbo) has nothing to cap off etc.

That's too funny. Ok, since I would not need a BOV, and would probably not want one period, what should I do in my case? Thanks and sorry if I sound stupid, but for some reason I can't figure out how this going to look and work in my head.

You dont, i weld a flange in it. YOu need to get your own snap-ring pliars to mount the BOV on. The HKS is a difficult unit to mount if you dont have the correct tools.
