Drivetrain RMW Exhaust Header choices
I have checked all of them, they are in perfect condition. I have tried to put the car on a ramp and seeing if the exhaust was touching any of the heat shields but there was no connection at all
I hope that he finds a solution for that...it seems that more people are joining the "shorty vibration club".
I think that we will find it eventually

bear in mind that while the RMW header has a flex joint component - it is more rigid than the other flex joints seen previously from other header manufacturers.
Pros - last a long time, should not fail.
possible Con - transfer a bit more vibration throughout the entire system.
Recently BBT (automatic) added a RMW header and Miltek and at idle, his tips wagged like a dogs tail. The system was checked more than once and everything was mated up just fine. Once on the gas it "normalized" and the car ran great. He solved his problem by actually dropping his idle 100 RPM or so.
If the rattles bothers you, you will have to do the famous rattle hunt and seek. Start with removing the rear heat shield and go from there.

Actually Danny found the source of my rattle (I think) yesterday and it had to do with the resonator on my Invidia.
Hey Jan check your PMs, thanks!

Btt's engine vibrated at idle like I've never seen before - perhaps autos do that or perhaps something is wrong w/ the engine dampners. As I said he calmed down by adjusting his idle.
he's going to need a bigger flange if the Alta has a 3" on their side
it can be easily made to suit
it can be easily made to suit
we can make a 3" collector for the race but you will need to modify the back section by shortening it to fit
I'll remove the rear heat shield tonight, although i doubt that it will fix anything
I have the rattle also. I have been under my car more times in the last few weeks than I have been in three years. I am slowly pulling things away from each other to pin point the rattle. Sorry to say I have not found it yrt but I will keep you posted. Even with the rattles I still love the header.
I'm wondering if there's two issues going on or if peoples "rattle" is really a vibration.
For me, its a vibration not a rattle. It comes on at 2100 rpm then again more mildly at about 3400 rpm.
I had the invidia exhaust on my car. I had to take it off because it was so damn loud, it sounded like a 757 with a trumpet strapped to the engines. I have my stock exhaust on the car right now. The vibration is the same with the invidia and the stock.
I was under the car this morning trying to track down the cause. All hangers are good, all heat shields are out of the way, all header bolts are tight as well as all bolts on the exhaust. I'm going to get the car on a lift so I can better see if the flex joint has a preload on it. I couldn't tell well enough just laying on my back in the garage

Yeah.... I've only been able to diagnose mine rolling around on the creeper... and I'm too fat to fit as comfortably as I'd like...
So I'm interested in what you can find on the lift...
But our vibrations sound very, very similar...
I DO have an automatic... which would imply that the engine and header are shifted about 3/8" to the right vs. a manual... so that may be loading the flex joint a bit... but it sounds like some folks are having exactly the same behavior on their manuals...

I think header = buzz. I'm OK with that.... it's the jackhammer sound that's an issue - you can hear mine on the 10th if it's not gone by then... but I thrashed the car in the mountains this weekend, and I LUUUUUVVVV it. Driving through stone gorges at WOT was just freakin outstanding.
You know, I've thought that as a possibility as well. Perhaps I'm expecting too much of the OEM feel, but Jan says there shouldn't be any vibration, which leads me to believe that it could still be a heat shield issue. I'm going to stop by Grassroots Garage either on the way or right after VIR.
I usually don't go above 6k rpm anyway, but I noticed the buzz because I've been exploring my new toys
. Below 6k, it's as vibration free as stock!!

It's just hard for me to understand how you're not gonna get at least a LITTLE more NVH or rattles with all the extra energy that surging through the exhaust after the header upgrade... those I can live with... the jackhammering, not so much.
As for 6K RPM.... dancing in the mountains this weekend, my car saw redline A LOT....
