Removing and reconnecting the OEM band clamp:

Place a flat blade screwdriver into the space behind the clasp.

Twist the screwdriver to disconnect.

Grasp the two hump sections of the clasp with adjustable joint pliers, pull together while rocking downwards.

As far as intake hoses popping off. This can occur on some of the CAIs if the clamps are tightened too much. Make sure the intake hose, and the filter are all the way on, then tighten the clamps such that they are only snug.

Enjoy the whine!

Something to consider that no one mentioned when I asked around... Alta hoses dont fit very well, and are questionable at best. If you go with alta, stick with the stock hose. They are great otherwise... amazing sound. Keep in mind that unless you get some sort of enclosed box, you will most likely get that high pitched annoying as hell whistle from the throttle body butterfly - and no, its not the supercharger wine.

old thread to revive..

but yeah i agree..the alta hoses do not fit very well as to why i sold it..i was thinking that it might have been just something weird with my car? guess not.

and upon changing to a detroit bypass valve, there was an annoying high pitched noise. as to the reason why i sold that also.

there is still a high pitch noise but barely audible and only at a certain rpm with my ddm/m7 intake. still love the sound tho

Any idea on power gains? Most places don't even bother posting them (other than K&N)

That's because they're negligible

I agree that power gain is very negligible when installing aftermarket CAI. I just installed my aFe intake that I bought from http://4wheelonline.com/AFE.58737. Didn't notice any hp/mpg gain however there's really an improvement in response and sound.

Well....
Depends on the combination of mods.

Stand-alone intakes usually only harbor 3-6hp by themselves. Mixed with a full exhaust, and 17% reduction pulley, you're looking at close to 25-30hp.
BUT none of it is guaranteed.

Oh, and a personal opinion here, but I'd also go with an aftermarket top mount... because the heat kicks the car's... rear end...

And loss of TQ , that's the downside of open air box . And TQ is what you feel more than HP.

Yea the Alta is a time consumer to install for an intake, I think my Megan intake took me 30mins if that. When I switched to the Alta it took me about two hours as well, worth it in the end though.

There are only 3 of our limited run of R53 intakes left. The top of our box is closed...FWIW.
