Drivetrain Most powerful M45 car 279whp!
Yup but there was 16 running up the dragstrip
You can show improvements on the dyno but you cant tell whether that has improved the times around the track due to track / driver / car setup improvements.
If Jan or Danny was data logging each day then you could overlay each session and analyse whether it was track / driver / car setup or because of the extra trq hp which has been found
With drag racing the tricky bit is the first 70-80ft which includes the 1st to 2nd gear shift, after that as long as you shift at the same point the car is pretty consistant.
You'll find those in the world of drag racing who use engine dynos, they'll all have the same story where they had an engine which made brillant power on the dyno but under performed at the track for whatever reason.
What you make on a dyno is irrelevant imo, its how you transmit that power through your MINI efficently on whatever track you use be it road or drag, but the best part is doing it with loads of your mates with Minis and enjoying the bond that you all have.
The ultimate Mini will be the one that conqurs both disciplines
, no good being a one trick pony.

Is SOW all left handers then
Gnatster that must be great fun having 10 minis on track, what is the highest number of Minis attending a non mini track day?

littlehandegan...JAW F430... what's the dif? lol..it's Sunday morning...lol
We haven't had an All MINI track day round these parts in years. There are so many events locally held by BMW-CCA, PCA and the 2 for profit entities that we can't get the track time for an All MINI event.
From this coming weekend (Sept 6-7) thru mid Dec there is at least one if not 2 track events every weekend.
I must say... having power translates to the track. Each time Danny and I have upgraded our power we went faster. You either have power or you don't. It's up to the driver to figure out how to put it down effectively
I'm getting the feeling that the to this^^^....

I'm not sure what HP I was at when I went 1:30 (second time out and car wasn't tuned yet, had to short shift at 5500)
but when I went 1:29 then 1:28 it was 262whp/234tq
there is so much more in this car with a pro driver
Danny was around 268whp/199tq
if you study times and specs of cars that have gone faster... you will see most are 350-450whp cars and race cars to boot
I drive to and from the track with the air conditioner on and with the stereo blaring.

I always find this bit funny because the difference between a 1.28 to a 1.29 could be 1.99 secs or .001
true... but if you go to speed ventures site you will see I ran 5 laps at 1:28xxx it wasn't a 1 lap wonder
Even though Shawn's Dyno reads high 279whp with an M45...on his dyno is still impressive, 260whp on a dynojet, and ~265-270 on a dynapack other then Shawn's! Good job Jan. BTW we all know that you can push 300whp with an M45, it just might not be so street friendly.
More aggressive cam, more aggressive head would probably get you there if not very close. 100 octane would probably get close to it as well.
