How many miles will you have on your oil at the time of the tune (roughly)?

I think I would be needing one shortly after the tune anyway. Not sure exactly how many miles. I think Ill do it just to be safe.

Cant wait.

A bit of both.

You will find as you approach the towns there is a Reduced Speed Warning Sign. The limits will drop from 70 to 55, then 45 to as low as 30-35 one step at a time. In one of these fancy furren (foreign) cars I'd keep at or just below the limit till you get out of town. On the other side of town the signs start increasing 10mph or so at a time.

Just trying to get a feel for what can be done....
Scaling would be tossing in a quick map that takes the larger injectors into account allowing the car to be drivable to the site.

The can be swapped on site, the shop there charges something like $110 hr labor, book time on one injector is 1.2hrs, figure 1.5 for all. You can do them on site but outside, this is a working shop and being it;s a BMW club race weekend too and they sponsor/support a few of the racers I'm sure they will be busy. Not a problem unless the weather is poor.

Other alternatives. There is a shop about 12 miles away that we all use. I called him to see about cost. Depends on the IC, if stock or stock like and the rail is accessible its book time at $90hr, $80hr for mm.org members. Jan will be in town and we could meet there to scale the injectors for the drive to the shop.

Another alternative is to swap them in my garage. Not a lot of tools on hand. Jan can scale them for the drive to the shop.

Well, I can bring the tools required in a small bag. The IC is stock, so it's no problem R+R'ing that. Once that's outta the way it's just 2 screws or so holding the rail in place, IIRC. If the scaling would make it so I can get to the shop (if the weather's bad), I'd be good to go.

I will bring tools and swap in my 440s on-site, back alley or wherever I can. It is not really a hard job.

Save me a spot, and I'll do the same thing. Maybe we can race to see who can do the swap fastest (and not leak).

I've been able to add in some time for Friday morning. 2 slots at 9 and 10.30 have been created. That's not to say it will take 1.5hrs for the tune, just leaving room. Please check the schedule in post #42 and let me know when is best for you!!

We really need to get these times filling in please.

I plan on getting there Thursday night. So I can take an earlier slot Friday if it helps someone that can't make it till later.

That can work, I have a potential 9:00 AM for Friday, is the 10.30 slot ok? You would need to be there by 10ish.

Since poskey asked first I need to offer that up and don't you need to swap injectors? Do you think you can have them swapped out by 10am. If so then we could slot you in there if poskey will take the later slot.

Swapping the injectors shouldn't take long. But I didn't chirp up to rock anyone's boat. Just trying to offer my flexibility to help someone else out if needed.

4. Royal Purple, FTW! In 5W30...

5. Mann and Hengst are both good - I would NOT use WIX. You can get package deals on eBay on Mann or Hengst on the cheap.
TXwerks:
Is there an store (pep boys, autozone, or other) that carry these items (oil and filter), I do not want to risk it ordering online and not getting them in time for the event.

I've tightened up the schedule some. See post 42. If you are from out of the area and I don't know you there is the deposit requirement so I know you are serious. PM me at this point for details. Some of you I have heard from and I put you on the list but never heard back anything. This is crunch time, I need to know that you will be there.

I'm all over it. Got the hotel booked, car's checked out, cash saved up, got the high command to take the day off Friday. Couldn't weasel any time from her Thursday. So I'm headed out Friday morning for the 5 hour drive, check into the hotel, drive the mile or so to the site, cool off a bit before injector swap, and on the rollers I go. If a deposit is required from me, Gnatster, PM me with the particulars and I will make it happen. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone there.
