Exhaust Depot's IC piping! with pics

So came back from getting the IC piping done from Hector at Exhaust Depot.

Both pipes are metal and fitted the car with an HKS SSQV BOV.

I can only as of right now give a review of me driving it aroud 25 miles or so.

But what I can clearly notice are 3 things:

1. Car feels very very very smooth compared to before.

2. Recovers much more quickly after shifts with more power and boost.

3. Since we got rid of the the noise generator, now I have a true turbo car sound. NO PSHH after every single release of the accel pedal no matter how soft it was. Now the BOV has a much much nicer sound and when on full boost it sounds amazingly nice.

the con is:

Just as when I first put my exhaust on, at least my first 2 tanks of gas will be wasted with me on full boost due to this new found sound + better running of the car.

I am still on the stock IC...So for people with upgraded units wether it be the Alta, Forge, or Helix I think these pipes will definitely help even more. Specially after looking at that muffler on one of the pipes.

The scratching on the paint on the cold side is due to me just applying a quick coat of paint...I don't even think it was high temp paint so when installing it scratched off.

These powdercoated in black for the one's looking to keep the stock look would be pretty nice, and possibly matching car paint colors.

He whats up guys!? The setup is $375 for the piping kit. Its $650 for the full kit, it includes the pipes, HKS bov, BOV Flange welded on the piping, fitting for the manifold and vacuum line.

The pipes alone give you a better throttle response and it flows so much better than stock. Also the boost will go up about 1lb or so because your going from rubber to metal so no blowing up of the pipes anymore (which looses boost).

The main reason for a bov (its not sound) is to allow the turbo to recover quicker after a shift. For example, when you shift your car, the boost recovers fully in say 200rpm, with the bov it recovers with in 100rpm. This is an example so you have an idea what the bov does besides the generic "It prevents compressor surge" which is the internet definition to it.

The pipes will be powdercoated, the ones pictured where only spray painted.

anyway to get it without the bov and bov flange?

im not sold on the bov for most modern turbo cars. typically it just screws up the ecu. I'll stick to the stock bypass valve for now.

Yup, as stated its $375 for the Hardpipe kit alone.

From what I've read, the only problem is when people try to block off the BOV. As long as you have some kind of BOV, it should be OK.

LIke what? Its easier fo rme to get one color going. my guy does black like almost every day, other colors will take longer to have done.I cant go to crazy with all colors because he takes 2 weeks at time for a red etc cause of the setup. If i do red i need to do a batch of reds.

Yea they def will be looking nice IMO matter balck better but gloss black would keep it clean looking.

As far as the sound generator Q, Yes rips right out but as usual handle the sensor with care (MAP)(TMAP) or whatever its label is.

and does the sound generator area need to be plugged?

And this is assuming you will be picking up the tab on the ticket I would have gotten right?

I went "through" the trouble of "videotaping" to simply show the sound of the blow off valve with the new intercooler pipes.

Thanks for the Driving lesson though buddy,

Yea he stated before it was $375 and that is for both sides of the IC piping without the BOV or flange.

ok thanks for the clarification. i was kinda confused with all the requests and everything. so basically he sells stainless steel ic plumbing, pipes only. now to clarify furthur, i want the pipes running directly off my alta fmic to be stainless and leave the top the alta boost tube that connects to the noise generator. is that what were talkin here? man i must sound dumb and im good with this stuff lol. thanks for the help and patience.

Stainless was never mentioned in this thread.

The pipes will be powdercoated in highgloss black. You will get silicon couplers to connect the pipes to the throttlebody , turbo etc.

You dont have to bypass the factory setup. Infact by having two (one on the cold side and another on the hotside of the system) you get better performance. If you block off the stock one then you just get a louder sound out of the HKS.
