second to RMW?

I know Jan tune is the best tune i can get. I have been around for a while and know it is miles from anything else. I have found however that due to my location/time/lack of people interested near me means that I wont get a RMW tune for quite some time. I was wondering what the next best option is until im able to get a solid custom tune down the road???????
I have heard/read uni-chip has some issues and i was wondering if they were still problematic?
Or should i go with Evotech or GIAC or Dinan??
JCW software isnt an option. It is worthless
input would be appreciated.

If it makes any difference my mods are 15% pulley, Invidia catback, Alta V1 CAI, RMW cam, JCW plugs and Injectors, NAPA 535 belt

honestly... just wait for a custom tune. there is absolutely no comparison and getting a canned tune is just pissing your money away.

Hi mimusprime could you elaborate a bit . . . is it because each car is unique and requires a tune suited to the individual car to maximize benefits and the "canned" tune is generic? There are probably many threads on this . . .a link that elaborates would be OK too . . .

nevermind - found one. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...hlight=evotech

Yes, your premise is correct sir. I've seen it firsthand at one of Jan's tune event--cars setup almost exactly the same way can have markedly different dyno's, and are custom tuned accordingly. Also a custom tune will show any blemishes/problems with your engine, or at least raise some red flags. You're just not going to be able to optimize with a canned tune; there is significant variation from engine to engine, even running the same mods. Its a source of mild amazement to me that virtually identical cars dyno'd on the same day/same conditions can vary so much...

James, if you are concerned with your car being hurt from running no tune. It will be fine until you can get Jan to do one I have been running untuned now for 15,000+ miles and no problems...just cant take it to redline too often...which with an unbuilt motor is not the smartest thing anyways.
The reason why your car will be fine is that you have covered any question in mind about running lean by installing the JCW injectors. Plus our cars run pig rich the way it is.

FWIW I had a GIAC ecu upgrade and it worked great for me, raised the redline, gave me a little more power. Overall I liked it a lot, I only had it for 4 months until I got a tune from Jan.

The JCW flash worked well for me at a little over $100.00 until I got the Jan tune. Even Jan said it was strong for the mods on it. The JCW will raise your rev limiter, recognise the larger injectors and help the mods you have work better, def felt more in tune. But as soon as you can get Jan....DO IT!
