The two holes that you are referring to are the ones on the ali heads. Honestly, I would not use those for the possibly the same reason M7 decided not to, vibration and stress and can crack. The heat shield will vibrate somewhat in the direction that has the weakest points on those holes in the ali. When it does crack (and it will, just a matter of time), then possible warrenty issues can pop up .....
You would be better off replacing the bolts with threaded studs of the equal length, running a stainless washer and nut all the way down to secure the heat shield to the stud/bolt and then placing the shield on and capping it with a stainless acorn nut. Now you have the stock shield secure and the new just as secure without having to drill new holes or worry about other problems.

PLUS: I still haven't had one to try. Thankfully, the NAM public and others have bought everything I had even before I could try one.
The one I did try before I sent it back didn't fit the 09 JCW car, and I mentioned how it could with some changes. Peter agreed, made some new ones, shipped them to clients with existing issues first on previous shipments and I should have one to try in earnest this week.
If I sell the stuff, why would I be jumping seriously on his crap here? PLEASE read the entire thread prior to posting!

for the AGS-R connection! The intake that m7 makes bolts up to that section of the HS. Not a noob question at all, I thought the same when I was looking at it the first time and I even knew about the AGS-R.
installed the new, new, shield. a number or places have recieved cuts- the old shield was a ***** to get unstuck from the double stick tape. didn't have the 2 threaded posts as i dont have an ags-r. one again the service from m7 was great
Can you expand on the OEM felt strip?

Findtape has rolls of various felt tape materials that are the same as the various makers use.
I always have stock on hand of felt materials in various thicknesses and widths to fix the issues. Some of the materials can be used exterior also.

So ... I removed the double stick tape since it will make it nearly impossible to get to some parts on the engine with the shield stuck down hard. I got a 2 mil roll of exterior grade felt in black out and put it in place of the tape (cut around the openings) and installed the shield.
This way I can remove the shield to get some of the wiring in the area and the MINI shop can remove it if they have to service the ignition wires without issues.
