Newbie Overasked Rhetorical Performance Question...

I'm sure this is a lil retorical......but hey...everyones new at some point. I'm not just asking for all the easy answers. I have looked around the forum a little and browsed around some companys looking at their products.

But anyways I just got my 04 MCS and obviously I want a lil more pep....so I decided from my research I'm going to do a 15% pully with a CAI and NGK Iriduim plugs and MSD wires MSD coilpack. Thats all my budget will alow me to do for now.

Well basicly what I'm looking for is which company should I go with. I was looking around and I was thinking of going with either Mini-Madness products or DDMworks products for the pully and CAI

If theres any other small mods that are cheap and easy feel free to let me know. All help will be much obliged

Pulley - brand doesn't matter.
CAI - the DDM is a good choice because it's completely sealed and plastic. The plastic works better at keeping the intake area cooler, doesn't absorb as much heat from the engine bay. But we're talking very small gains here between plastic + metal.

plugs, wires, coilpack - relative waste of money. You might be able to pick up a used catback for a little more than you'd spend on these items, and it'd offer better bang for buck.

These weren't rhetorical questions... But yeah, they are overasked.

You beat me to it! (well, except the plugs, maybe. One step colder for the pulley and all that)
Yep, a cat-back would be good. One ball would be even cheaper.

Remove the back seat, that is free and it improves all dynamics of the car.

During the tuning event @ Chicago, Jan pretty much said to keep the stock coil and wires... I have the MSD and it was giving me little hiccups when pushed hard. Jans said the stock ones won't...Both MSD wires and coil pack come off for stock this weekend...

I removed some "jackson racing" plug wires and replaced them with stock. I took them off at like 15,000, and have had "unknown pinging" issues ever sense. Now that they have been removed, NONE.

VGS is only really worth it of your car has yo-yo (or atleast that is my understanding). Likewise the Detroit Tuned BPV is IMO a better solution for the yo-yo problem.

As far as pulley goes, anything that is "name brand" will work, this includes the KMT pulleys that you can get on ebay (or at least used to be able to).

Intake, personal preference really, but plastic tends to be looked at as performing better. Generally though it is good to look for an intake that is fully enclosed.

pulley, ddm CAI and good to go, wires plugs and coil pack waste of money you could be saving for a Jan tune. Unless you need to change plugs and wires for maint.

With the money you save by not getting the wires and coil pack you should buy a rear sway bar.

If you do the rear seat delete, (RSD), think about a Schrader kit, it's not too expensive and looks/works great. I put two mid/big sized dogs in there, have plenty of room for luggage, etc. notwithstanding the weight reduction...

If you're near or over 6ft, look into a lightnsight.

Basically. A decent muffler shop provided with the right pictures can do the mod cheaply and quickly (under $100).

A GOOD shop can also make the piece but www.minspeed.net sells a 1-ball mod insert piece that is mandrel bent and comes w/ stainless steel clamps. Real easy to do - hold insert in place, mark, cut, add insert and clamp.

You loose about 20lbs of weight, straighter/shorter exhaust travel and its just a tad louder in stock.

There are numerous threads here on NAM, search away.

I'm more than capable of doing this myself. I have my own welder. My garage is basicly a machine shop. I also build mini trucks, like putting air ride on and stuff like that.
