Drivetrain Do I have a problem with my intake?
I've got a situation with my Pilo intake in which one of the screws that hold the bonnet liner on is pressing into the rubberized area at the top of the filter. It leaves an impression on the rubberized area. Questions: is this something that's happened to others? Is this something that I should be concerned about? I know that the concept here is that the box insulates against the underside of the bonnet utilizing the weather stripping, but if you look at the think head on, the filter sticks up a hair higher than the wall+ weather stripping. Is this right? Incidentally, I've only put about 200 miles on my car since the new intake was put in.
Notice in the pictures, I know it's blurry, but you should be able to clearly see the indentation in the filter in the circled area in the first picture. In the second picture, I've highlighted the offending screw. Comments are VERY weclcome.

You can loosen the filter, and slide it out a little bit. the tube is long enough to have the filter slid about 1/2" out. Give that a try, and let me know if that helps. If you have any other peoblems, E-mail me at mini@thepilo.com

Looks like that might just do the trick. I'll email and or post more if I think that's not cutting it, but I don't see why it wouldn't.

I looked on my intake, and I noticed a similar dent.. I then looked at the way the rubber is, and there is no problem with it, as it is solid rubber, not just a cover. I do recomend moving it away if possible, but do not think it is a problem, as I have 10K miles with no problem of wear or anything

Dan, I've noticed that I have EXACTLY the same dent in my intake that Chitown has in his. His pics look like they could have been taken of mine.
I'll try to slide it out as you recommend...but why do you think that something on the underside of the hood is touching the filter? Shouldn't the height of the heatshield and the weatherstrip be taller than the filter?
But as I've posted, I do really like my intake. It definitely makes the car feel smoother upon acceleration. There's also NO extra noise as far as I can tell (even at wide open throttle). That's fine by me.

The filter that I use is rather large filter. So, it does come very close to the hood. This filter is used to get the most flow. I just noticed as I posted above, the same mark, but have not experienced any problems. You can slide it out the little bit, but do not worry about the indent, as it will not effect the filter. If you find any problems because of this, please let me know, and I will take care of it right away
