how do i increase my boost??

ok so.. i know this is probably a question that is frequently asked but, how can i increase my psi boost on my 07 MCS. What can i do, and what is the best way to do it. Do i get a remap or do i buy a boost control. and if the answer is boost control, does anyone make a boost control for the 07 MCS. i am open to any opinions. Thanks

I would say best way to get the boost up is a larger turbo that can hold more boost. If you don't want to go that route a custom tune may be a great idea cause that will allow them to play with your boost map, air/fuel and timing among other things.

Either a PnP ECU or an ECU remap, of course adding in a custom tune will only tweak it further.

You guys are tossing to bland of a reply. You need to give vehicle specific info as to raising the boost. Personally I dont know if raising the boost on this will cause a cel or if you have to use a mapclamp of some type to be able to raise the boost.

As for a boost controller, any one on the market will work, just depends if you want to go with a manual or electronic unit.

Will adding a spacer to the stock turbo, like Alta's set up do anything for HP?Boost?

Spacer? Are you refering to a blow off valve plate or something? Anything that deals with BOV does not had HP for the most part, it just adds turbo responce after a shift.

Take a look at Alta or GIAC.

I don't think my reply was bland. I stated what would give the most bang for the buck. Yes, there are other things can be done to increase boost without going for a PnP ECU or ECU remap. For instance, with my PnP ECU removed I still get a peak boost of 16 PSI with all of my other mods. If I remember correctly the stock peak is somewhere around 12 PSI.

However, if you take cost into consideration, ECU mods usually reap the most benefit versus the cost involved.

I do personally know that raising the boost to a level of 16 or even 20.5 PSI does not cause a CEL.

From what I've found, you can't use a manual boost controller on our cars because the ECU reads the increased pressure and cuts fuel and timing to control boost.

You can add about 1 to 2 psi with a controller, but any more and you get LESS power because the ECU freaks out. This is why people get new software. The new software tells the ECU that it is OK to have more boost.

I come from the VW world with a 1.8T Jetta. They were the same way. One neat thing that worked for VW's and will probably work for us is that you can get you piggyback ECU and then put a boost controller on. You can then pretty much max out the turbo and get all the boost you want!!!!

Our Turbo:
From my digging, our cars have a Borg Warner K03 twin scroll unit. My VW came with a Borg Warner K03 variant that was very similar. All day long people push 18-20psi through them in VW's, so we aught to be able to do the same!
