Duh, I didn't mean $13k isn't for YOUR computer! It's for the tools (software, etc) that Jan bought and uses to tune Mini's.

The car is fine. It is my daily driver, and I've driven it 200 miles in the last 2 days. It's 95% sorted and the rest will be accomplished when Jan comes near NJ so that he can fine-touch the base tune that he gave me.

But, my purpose in writing this all is simple: this is a major mod. You are completely changing your engine. All work should be done by a professional and you should expect some issues to come up. But, everything WILL work. It's important that anyone considering this mod expect a little time to sort everything out.

Like I said in my recent post, this engine makes MASSIVE torque, even off of boost. You hardly need any throttle input (maybe 30%) to accelerate past a car on the highway IN 6TH GEAR...you don't even need boost. That's HUGE. But, with that power comes the need for strengthening tired motor mounts. My top and bottom mounts failed, but they were 4 years old, and I drive my car hard on the track a few times a year. These parts fail even on stock cars.

Bottom line, this engine is AMAZING and most importantly it'll live as a daily driver with only a bit more maintenance. You just need to figure in some time for sorting it all out.

What do you expect, or know for that matter, to have to maintain more often? Belts? Plugs? Brakes!

Belts depend on the pulley used. No change there.

Plugs- not sure, I'll let everyone know when I get that figured out. But, the fact is that the IATs are much lower with the stroker because it breathes much better. So maybe they will last longer?

Oil- this may not last as long. That is why I will be doing oil analysis and sharing what I can.

For the rest, check back in!

In the back of my mind, yes. But, by the time it reached my fingers, it changed to "Don't start a potential argument on the internet"

Ok first off, Dynocomp is the LAST place you EVER wanna take your car. They use EVOtech and while its ok, I can get more power with an AFCII than they ever did with evotech. The difference? EVOtech is like 600 bucks. AFCII... 250? LOL PLEASE! Thier business practices are also a huge fail. They tried to scare a girl I knew who was getting a pulley into getting evotech, saying "the MINI is known to run lean, if you put a pulley on there you are going to blow the motor". Thank god I was there, She looked over at me and I smiled and winked. She knew that meant to just let him talk. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Mynes Performance is the ONLY place in AZ I would trust to work on a MINI.
While THEY NEVER worked with tim. They did allot of R&D with Hubie and I on cracking the MINI ECU in a time where no one else had. THEY DO NOT WORK WITH FIREBALLED. As many know Fireballed is an epic fail of all fails. While Hubie, Brian, Jan, Jason of Mynes and my self busted our butts hugely with that whole thing. Fireball Tim used abused and sucked the life and money out of us all. So please, do not disrespect Jason, or any of us who truly did great things with association of the Scumball tim.

If you are doing the RMW stuff. Do you self a favor, Cali is not that far, just go out there, make it a long weekend. Something to that effect. It's worth it.

The second is Mynes Performance in Mesa... They do the Fireballed software I believe... And Jay has worked with Tim a lot with tuning and does there stuff...
Might wanna check with them, but not until you talk to Jan... To my understanding, he has the ability to tweak the ECU without any additional software upgrades... don't quote me on that... But he is doing great thing's with the tuning as you can see all across the board's so there's your source... And if it's more efficient to take it to a local shop with what you have, that way be an option. But if your going to do Jan's head and cam, or even his stroker... wouldn't you want the man who know his own stuff to tune it???

Totally agree on DYNOCOMP.... but I have different reasons for not going back there after they knockedd the tar out of my built RX7 that ended up costing me $20k... And made me pay for the dynotime and didnt say anything...
But he asked for all options and I wasnt aware of their Mini tuning skills... Thanks for clarification on both shops... Last time I talked to Jay, they were waiting on the upgraded Fireballed software, so I guess I just assumed... So Sorry......

The car is great. I'm working my *** off now on my orthopedic surgery block. 80-90 hours a week leaves time only for sleep . I got an oil test done on my first post-break in oil. The results are phenomenal. Terry Dyson said that my car is the cleanest running MINI that he has ever seen . Go Jan on a proper well engineered motor/crazy sick daily driver!

ps: I will post the data tomorrow. nighty night.

once you do get everything sorted out, would you also please post some specs? hp? ( i kow it will be a lil different for each stroker, but for ball park ratings), est. 0-60 time, and maybe a vid showing it off?

Sorry for the long silence...I work too damn much...but here are my first oil analysis results on the new motor. It is running STRONG as a daily driver in this God-forsaken cold winter up here in Jersey. I am awaiting the next Jan tuning date in the northeast to get my final tune. (Hurry up and get the new shop going, Helix! )

I am still running the same bio-synthetic SAE 30HD oil during the winter because Terry Dyson's analysis shows that it flows like a 5w30 ;-). On to the results with the biosyn SAE 30HD:

2000 summer-fall miles on stroker (this was the first oil fill after doing 700 miles on the 30w breakin oil)

Key:
Component: value ("should be" value... bad if greater than, unless otherwise stated)

Wear Metals (ppm):
Iron: 10 (100)
Copper: 624 (oil additive) (50)
Tin: 0 (20)
Lead: 10 (25)
Chromium: 1 (15)
Nickel: 0 (10)
Aluminum: 10 (15)
Titanium: 0 (10)
Silver: 0 (10)

Additive Metals:
Calcium: 3840
Magnesium: 16
Zinc: 2119
Phosphorus: 1740
Barium: 0
Molybdenum: 16 (assembly grease)
Antimony: 178

Contaminant Metals:
Silicon: 7 (75)
Sodum: 17 (150)
Boron: 1 (100)
Potassium: 0 (50)
Vanadium: 0 (20)

Physical Tests:
TAN: 2.39 (4)
FLASH: 320 (375) (fuel dilution)
OXID: 10 (30)
NIT: 8 (25)
KF: 1505 (1800 nl for my oil)
TBN: 10.3 (<3)
Fuel: 1.29 (4)
soot: 0 (4)
Gylcol: 0
vndx: 152 (153 new)

Since the numbers next to the parentheses are in most cases less than the numbers in the parentheses, its good!

Would love to if I've got the money and it makes sense at the time. The M45 with 17% pulley only makes like 11psi right now . There's plenty of power to be had with a more appropriate blower...
