So much for your logic.
Yes I understand that Jan had other cars with the same issues. I understand that completely. But by you saying it makes logical sense that EvoTech knew about the problems ASSUMING other consumers notified them of it, makes no sense in and of itself. Did you ever ask yourself...what if no one did notify EvoTech and pure13 is the first to bring it to their attention. Are they still thieves in your opinion?? To assume without any proof that they knew about it and then call them thieves for not doing anything to fix it is absurd. At least find out the truth before you go and call people theives.

I guess you missed that too in your haste.
I'll just tell you to read what Gnat said in response to this. Again there is no mention in your ad that you posted about changes in fuel or anything else for that matter. They increased the redline and modified the DSC....to me that's a remap.

Okay here is food for thought. Is a it a true horse power gain if all it does is let you push the throttle down farther?

Here is a question off topic, why is it at times when someone(anyone) has something to say occasionally the rebut is correcting that persons use of grammar and spelling ? The average MINI owner is 40 plus years old. Most when they were in school did not have use of computers. So back off kids on some of us that are not as computer savvy as you. Has nothing to do with the subject. You know who you are.
Back on topic:

Did anyone care to notice that Evo Tech is not available on the weekends? So they can not even be contacted to talk to a rep about this. Some of you that claim to know so much may be surprised what Evo Tech has to say!

I dunno if you're talking about me but I wasn't criticizing anyone's spelling. Just noticed all the HTML coding and made the connection that normally that happens when you post stuff from Word.

The main owner of the tune up shop may not even know what was done.. Some Spud worker may have done something that was not known to the man person who owes the shop.. chill and sit down with the main person...

R ya feeling guilty
It was really meant as humor. See I am laughing But you have to admit on threads when thing start to get controvert that someone always wants to be the Grammar instructor. Most of us only read the first couple of letters in each word and are brain fills in the missing letters.
so if you smply sty with the topic you wold not see the erors

I actually saw 2 of the files on Jans computer from folks that had the Evo tune, and neither one of them had any changes at all to the OEM maps other than DSC and RPM limit.

This is irrefutable evidence.

One other comment............

George's response warrants a reply.

If the OP had wanted a new/fixed Evo tune I am sure he would have waited, but he had already decided to have Jan tune his car for the little bit of improvement he was expecting. That's why he was at the tuning party, he was going to get a new tune no matter what. For George to get mad because he was never given a chance to fix the tune is a bit ridiculous. The OP was simply trying to let other know of his problem with the tune he got from Evotech. I think he has every right to demand a refund of his money.

Just in case you all are not keep up with what is going on over at PSMini.

http://www.psmini.org/forum/forum_po...ID=45123#45123

Keep right ran down and Got Jan to take a look at his EvoTech tune. Here is his report.
"Hello folks- I did get down to visit Speedfactory, 6:30pm great group of guys-tired, probablly sick of Minis.James K. was very helpful with my questions of all his equipment to include his dyno-
I also met Jan B. He was a very positive and helpful person, very tired of course , and I'm sure very thirsty! He was still working on getting Ken's rig boost questions answered. Ken was pulling 240 and the the boost was all messed up- hope it gets fixed before Mr B's 7:00am flight. Wow amazing what a head and header can do, save your pennies-then get the tune. I ;left at nine and Clint was still on the phone and computer posting for everyone.
I'm having the biggest brain fade on the club member with his JCW red that he was all smiles about. Please forgive me.
Now- Jan volunteered to plug in the rig to see what the ECU had on it. I compared it to some other initial ECU scans prior to anything being done.
You might think that was a waste of an opportunity-nope- helps to direct my focus.
Now- I have some more questions to ask, and as I find out more I will let you all know how
I will leave it there. If I need to eat crow, let me clean it first, please-
The testing set up looked good, consistant.
Though very tempted, I did not put on dyno, my clutch is next on my list and watching the pull and dump of the dyno, I realized that my new head will wait for the LSD and Clutch first.
Though tempted, I chose not to re-map. I know that I should take it first to my EVO distrib to verify that I got what I paid for.
It sure looked and sounded fun, and the guys were all cool -
The numbers looked very impressive. I'm glad the opportunity was available for our club members"

alright so now I think we've reached a point in this thread where we all are pretty just waiting to see what happens with Pure13's case and the response he get from EvoTech. Should be pretty interesting that they are getting called out on this. It's too bad that they post hp numbers like they do when all they are doing is increasing the rev limit and dsc controls. Maybe they didn't think anyone would find out? It's not a one off either cuz its been stated several times that more than one of these EvoTech units has been programmed the same. Well thanks Pure13 for bringing this to our attention in the Mini community and possibly helping a fellow NAM'er avoid purchasing this product until an explanation is had. In the meantime I'll be sitting back waiting to here from you and see what they had to say for themselves.

This is very good news. I feel we might finally be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel on this one.

MM could be just like customers like myself, blind to what was done to the ECU. And that is why through out every single posts I have made on this topic, not once I had pointed my finger at MM. I might had gotten frustrated and pissed at how MM questioning why I don't call them first when the problem was spotted.

I truly hope this experience bring awareness and better accountability to aftermarket performance part. And make our MINI enthusiast community a better place for information sharing and collaborations.

Okay, its time for me to get off my soap box.

Glad to see safetysean came down to get his ECU checked. Also nice to see the info will be sent on to MM. Maybe all this will get cleared up so people get what they are paying for. It proves the point that real live tuning is the only way to go. Nice to see the issue is being handled in the proper way.

Perhaps but he is not opbligated to do so on a forum

So Pure13 was at a tune party? That means he got free work.Kind of like Tupperware. Heck I would have done that myself.

What are you talking about............pure13 planned on getting and paying for a tune by Jan before finding out about the problem with the evo stuff. Jan told him as he was tuning his car that there was a problem with the evo "map".

The start of this thread by Pure13 posting #1
“Please share your expereince with me either on this forum or PM.”

Longboard posting #2
“Did you call George at Mini Madness before posting this? “

Pure13 post 3 still on the 6-19.
“FYI: I had RWM tune today”

It really does not look like Mini Madness had time to respond to this thread. So I would be a little miffed myself ? Not everybody reads this forum everyday like some of us.

And Mini Madness did reply on posting # 36 on 6-20
“At this time Pure 13 has not called us to discuss determining if there is in fact a problem with his ECU or to arrange the evaluation. We are anxiously await his call.”

You know if it were just the problem with the Evo Tech tune and questions to others about it was all that would be fine. But the mere fact that pure13 choose not to resolve Evo Tech issues and bought/given (?) the other tune does not warrant claiming an inferior product or that it was not as advertised until all parties concerned have had a chance to correct/rectify the claim.

Oh wow. This is the first time I've heard of free Jan tunes at tuning parties.... Oh wait I was there! And while the tunes were worth every penny (or a bargain at twice the price, judging by what you get from Evotech for $650), they were definetly not free.

Sometimes I wonder where people pull this information from? Is it out of the air? Or somewhere else?
