Alta Turbo back track video

Thought I'd share this track video of me from a time attack last week. Great sound of the Alta turboback / Alta PNP ECU and Forge blow off valve. Cross Coilovers kicked butt.

Had 2, 10 minute track sessions and then a warm up, 2 timed laps and a cool down lap. Did good in my class, finished 2nd. All the MINI's did well, just a 1 mile track.

Still new at this, missed a few shifts, car ran great.
Fun Time!

Yes, as mentioned Forge BOV. http://www.forgemotorsport.com/conte...roduct=FMDVMCS
Easy install, must pull it off for DSP SCCA Solo.

Sounds good!!! (the exhaust...)

Gotta admit though, not a fan of that fluttery sound the BOV makes...took me long enough to get used to the pssssst from a CAI lol.

Anyway, I could tell just from watching how the car handled in the video how much of a difference the Cross c/o's make. I gotta get me a set!!!

Ps...what track was that??

It was on the west track at Firebird.

1.1 Mile Road Course, incorporating 11 tight turns and a 3/8 mile straight-away.

Is that why it sounds so weird? I thought it was just how the BOV sounded...

Regardless, it doesn't sound healthy!

I'm not sure what you are talking about, it sounds great to me. That's how the Forge BOV is suppose to sound.

nice Video also!
But some NAMers mentions compressor surge. Not sure why they didn't go into more detail?? This is for sure what that BOV sound is. It is the BOV not venting enough air. There are 2 times of compressor surge. One is when you lift throttle and boost backs up through the turbo system. The other is when your turbo pushes more air than the engine can consume. This is not an issue on the mini. But the first version can happen on any turbo car with a bad BOV.

What is happening is the boost has nowhere to go and it backs up through the turbo. Imagine your turbo spinning 100K RPM then it stops or trys to spin the other way! This puts lots of stress on the turbo shaft and bearings and will for 100% lead to premature turbo wear. While some race cars make this sound (no BOV) they don't care about how long the turbo has to last. It can have some benifits, but on a road car, not so many.

I am only mentioning this to help save your turbo!
