Turbo Timers

Has anyone installed one of these on their cars? Is it necessary or only for folks that track their cars? I had one of these on my 1993 Mazada RX-7 twin turbo (non-tracked), which was nice especially after I ran the car kind of hard and did not want to wait for the idle to run for a period of time. Supposedly, idling will allow the compressor assembly to cool and not ruin the turbo blades. According to Wikipedia, idling a turbocharged car will allow the oil in the engine to properly circulate so the turbo won't burn the oil that might be trapped within the charger with the turbine rotating at high speed.
Any thoughts?

I't been talked about before:

There is a water pump that runs after you turn off the motor to cool the turbo.
