You already have a one ball from the factory.

I think this is agranger's air horn. Note how the camera person gets startled when the horn goes off.

Mostly. The R50 does have a small inline resonator near the front end. No idea what effect removing that has.

Is that the resonator to the right of (2)? Are you also saying that the R50 set up is the same as an R56?

yes - resonator is the thing near the flange.

This is a 1st gen forum - so I assumed you had a 1st gen justa - but I see now you have an R56 justa.

Yours looks like this:

I suppose you could remove this resonator with an accompanying increase in sound/noise... but I'm not familiar with anyone doing it... but I'm also not an R56 expert - may be lots of resonator-less R56's running around I wouldn't know. Search the 2nd gen forum.

Thanks for hanging with a newbie on this one... I'd have to go with oxybluecoop - that lower diagram would be my justa and I don't see a resonator... I guess that explains why the '05 (automatic) loaner that I got from MINI felt like an absolute sloth compared to my R56 6 speed.

Thanks again for the explanation!

There IS a resonator in the R56 diagrams - it's a two part exhaust - the upper part is installed forward of the lower part. It's the slightly larger diameter section with "1" or "2" point directly at it. This is contained inside the exhaust tunnel near the middle of the car.

That said, there isn't nearly as much restriction created by this type of resonator as there is in the R53's by all the convoluted piping back and forth across the back of the car.

Albiecrazy, Maybe I could help you with this. I just did my exhaust and took out the 2nd cat (this diagram its right after the hangers) and the resonator as well and it is marked #2. I havent really noticed a huge power gain if any at all..... but I have noticed that there is a huge difference in the sound that is put off by doing this. It should give you a little more power due to making it a straight pipe and less restrained flow to the muffler.
