if anybody is around today and reads this...we're in the middle of putting the dogbone back in. The vertical bolt won't thread....like it's not long enough. What are we missing??

Obvious question, but did you switch the two bolts?

When we did Chris's, we got everything aligned by putting a screwdriver through the bolt holes first, and moving it around till it centered.

For what it's worth, I usually start with putting in the big bolt (big end), lining up the oil-pan mount, put in the smaller big bolt, then put in oil pan bolts.

Bingo!

Screw around with engine hight and the screw driver to line things up. If you don't do this the bolt won't engage with the threads.

I'm sure by the time you read this you're already finished.... but WTF, in case you're not...

Is it safe to just install the Powerflex Lower Engine mounts or should all of them be replaced at the same time?

Safe to install any of them independently of others.

how to remove oem bushings

Hi everyone,
I'm in the process of changing the lower engine bushing -- just the bigger one -- and I can't get the oem bushing out. Am I supposed to destroy it to get it out? Are there any tricks to it?

Nevermind... I'm an idiot. These are inserts, not replacements! Wow, almost did something really, really bad!

Yeah, I was staring at the pieces wondering how everyone else was doing this in 15-20 minutes. Then the square-peg/square-hole lesson from Kindergarten kicked in and I realized how dumb I was!

So where do I sign up for this year's Darwin Award?

Between the lower bushing, upper bushing, and gearbox bushing, is there a best bang for the buck combo? If just replacing one what would make the most difference?

I'm assuming the NVH with all 3 replaced would be high, but if anyone has feedback that says otherwise I'm all ears.

I currently have a LOTF damper, but been thinking about removing it to isntall the bushings.

First, I did the big end passenger mount insert. Lots of NVH with that one insert. Then I did the lower big and small end mount inserts. Not too much of a change in NVH. Last week I finished it off with the gearbox mount and wow a super change. The NVH has gone down and the gear lever seems to be tight and slick now(new gearbox fluid too though)!

It's simple just remove your intake system and anything else that might bug you down there. Support the motor/trans, remove mount, install the inserts and reassemble!

$21 and you're good with part # 100-647:

I've got my header out currently...does that give me enough room to get at it without removing the airbox too?

Nope. You'll have ithe mount exposed in 10 minutes. Besides it'll make you clean your intake system all down and maybe even clean your air filter!

That's exactly what i did and had the same experience. All three mounts equaled less NVH.

don't think it needs it...less than 500 miles since new way back in January

Moss had it backordered but Powerflex is apparently local in VA. $35/shipped and it will show up before the weekend. Thanks for the info...the combo of the VIP damper, lower inserts and the tranny mount should make for a nice combo I think

Good stuff then PGT!

You'll have to remove the stock 'blue insert' because it'll be too tight to get back together! Use lots of mild soapy water or windex to let the trans mount-with powerflex inserts-slide into the trans mount hanger!

Jeremy

You can just make out the trans mount in the top right of the pic with the stock blue insert.....

The gearbox mount it accessed from the topside only. The mount suspends the gearbox from the unibody.

Jeremy

There's the 4 bolt holes(at corners of X-braced casting) for the mount on top of the gearbox.
