Intake Modification?

I picked up a promini intake for my girls 05 MCSCa a few months ago. It wasn't my #1 choice for intake but I got it brand new off ebay for $31 (shipped), can't beat that. Anyways since it is not a closed box, just the metal shield, I wanted to know if anyone has cut to make a larger hole where the cold air goes into the stock box too increase colder air and air flow into the filter? Are there any draw backs to this?

Thanks

If I understand your question right, I think MiniMadness has the setup for you: http://www.mini-madness.com/index.as...ROD&ProdID=174

I have their CAI and this replacement cowl that opens an intake duct at the rear of the engine compartment for cooler airflow. I like it, and have had no problems... except for the permagrin from hearing my supercharger spooling up clearer!

good luck!

That's exactly what I was referring to, so you haven't had any problems with sucking in any rain water or anything like that?
Thanks

Can you help me understand this better? They carry the green high flow air filter, and a 'Twister Cold Air Intake'. Based on price I assume the Twister is a better product, but can you tell me if the difference in gains is worth the additional $181.?

I have the same intake and have cut the cowl. Louder whine. I have not noticed any problems with water.

A number of other intake systems modify or remove the cowl wall - similar to what you've indicated an interest in. I cut the cowl wall for a intake somewhat similar to yours in the past and never had any problems with water/rain (you can do the modification yourself, no real need to order one which is already modified unless you are interested in keep your original intact - I used a dremel and cut-off wheel). You will hear additional supercharger whine once done, but some may argue it's more music than whine

Back in my old Toyota Tacoma days there was a mod called the "Deck Plate" mod...Comes with a screw on lid in case you want to quiet things down for a road trip or whatever. Pick up at any boat store for a few $$..
