Would you please put me down for this event. I pretty sure I could do either day, but i think friday would work best for me. Preferably in afternoon sometime.
Thanks!

Are you getting injectors installed? Let me know, and thanks for attending.

Yes, I would be bringing the injectors with me and have them installed before the tune.

Go ahead and add me for Friday. I'd like a cam and header install and tune. I'd also like a baseline run.

Are you adding to the list or do you want off the list. I thought you wanted on with Fei. I noticed your addition to the list is from yesterday didn't stay on the #1 post.

First, what mods do I need to make a tune by Jan work best? I see some talk about injectors, are these needed or recommended given my current mods (see signature list)?

Second, cost...how much are we looking at for the tune and dyno?

Third, is this something the dealer can detect or overwrite? I really have zero knowledge about Jan's means/method of tuning, just that it kicks butt.

Last, is there a good chance that Jan will return to the area sometime in the future? When I had Randy Webb install my pulley at a Lewiston pulley party I considered waiting for the "next one." There never was a next one, so I'm very glad I pulled the trigger. Is this a "now or never" deal that I can sell to the wife or can I hold off for another year?

OK, I just called Jan. He's hanging out at AMVIV, which sounds fantastic considering I had 3 inches of snow on my car this morning. Anyway, Jan took some time to explain various stuff. Put me down for a tune. Anytime Friday during the day works or later Saturday afternoon.

Your mods should be done (planned) with an end goal in mind. What do you want out of your MINI? What mods are you thinking about having done?

Sounds like you want a nice street set up. Typical bolt on stuff, that's similar to what most people want or can afford. The first three power mods are usually intake, pulley and exhaust. If you go with top notch stuff, that will cost you about $1500 - $2000 and should add around 25hp. After that any mod that will significantly improve power will cost more than $1k (i.e. header = $1k, head = $2k+, etc). So many people stopped at that point. Others would go a step further and try various software tuning options (i.e. MTH, GIAC, and Unichip), but often reported only marginal improvement. Jan has seemingly revolutionized ecu tuning for our cars and many customers have reported gains of 20+hp and improved drivability, all for only about $350 (+ dyno time). That's hard to beat and in the end, for under $2500, you have a 200hp MINI.

That's easy for me to answer, the most power and performance/speed I can get out of it.

Then call up Fireballed! Racing and have them build you an M600 drag car...although that probably wouldn't be any good for the daily commute, a night on the town, or much else.

Seriously though, "performance" means different things to different people. For example, are you OK with gaining high end power at the expense of low end? Same can be said about "speed." Having the most speed on the track, 1/4 mile, autocross and the autobahn are all very different things and you're not going to find a MINI that the best at everything. You need to define what it is you want, thus the plan. When I spoke with Jan yesterday the first thing he asked me was what plans/goal was with the car.

Yes it's not a rumor anymore. Jan will be coming to Rochester, NY this April 25-26 for his tuning sessions. The event will be held at Eksten Autoworks
78 Bennington Drive, Rochester, NY. Jan has spoken to Larry Eksten and he has all Jan will need for tuning your MINI. Eksten is a full service garage that specializes in BMW-MINI service and track event car setups. They can handle Jan's head, cam, injector and exhaust installs. We may add a day if needed per Jan and Larry if the demand is there. If you need injectors or any other RMW parts please let Jan know. Performance parts such as heads etc will have to be installed in advance of tuning. This may be Jan's last tuning session of the season as he may be shifting more time to his product development and track events.

Please PM me all your info as what your needs are and if you'd like to schedule a tuning session.

Thanks Larry

Here are some basic guidelines to adhere to :

15% or 16% pulley with NO crank pulley and NOT tracking car :::: stock injectors ok

any other combination of pulley's you should have the bigger injectors

We hope to have cams in soon , I have ordered 50 of them

if you have questions feel free to call... I will get back to you
