Unichip/

The original Unichip Systems were hit and miss.

How many people have had the Unichip for at least a few weeks and have not had a check engine light, any problem with the plug, or with the way the car runs.

It would be nice to start a thread for people to report their experience with the UNICHIP PRODUCT. This does not apply to the Alta tuned version specifically but the UNICHIP in general

I want to get this really bad but I have had two Local Mini performance companies tell me in person when I went to their shop not to order it . For them to tell me this and loose a 750 sale it must be pretty bad.

Please Post What You Have Heard or better yet your experience with the product

It is not necessarily the chip giving problems but the harnesses that connect to the stock ECU plugs. I personally would buy from Alta, my reasons for that are:

1. They will make it right and make it work for you.
2. Adam will answer any type of question or problem personally. He called my husband in the middle of the night (about 1 AM) after he sent him a PM.
3. If you have a problem with the UNICHIP, good luck trying to deal with a company from SOUTH AFRICA. Not saying anything bad about them, but they are overseas and would probably loose comminucation.
4. Alta will tune your chip according to your mods, with a regular UNICHIP tune you probably won't get the best tune your car can have.

Keep reading the posts on Altas side, as they are trying to correct all issues.

Hey thanks!

To the OP I think your concerns are valid. We have had some issues with the first and second gen harnesses but as mentioned above, anyone that had an issue was dealt with ASAP and we think at least to their satisfaction.

I have GEN 3 harnesses going out to clients as we speak and there are ZERO negative feedback form anyone so far.

I do hope some other successful clients will chime in to help you make an informed decision. I can say the power is addicting!

Let me know how I can help further!

I have had two units

I start with the original and even tried the Q model. I have a local guy that has a dyno and can tune the Unichip and found we could make 15-20hp on a tune depending on the parts added. However I am upgrading to the Hydra system to have even more adjustability so my units are for sale if you want to try a used set.

What's the Hydra system and you're selling used Alta units or generic unichips?

You have an R53 model right? We are the exclusive reseller of the HYDRA for the R53 and I have a few units in stock. But the HYDRA is NOT available for the R56 and I don't expect it to be for a year or so.

Can you please clarify?

Used Unichips

I bought them second hand, so not sure where the came from originally.
I do not have any more info on Hydra yet I was told that is my next best option. However I am waiting for motor upgrades to put back together before addressing that.

Again, no criticism, but what year and model car do you have?

The HYDRA is a cool tool but only for the early MINI. Not compatible with the R56.

Let us know!
