Drivetrain Injectors - at what point do you need bigger?

Can you run a 17% pulley and add 380 injectors without remapping to ECU right away. I only ask that because I wont be able to get it tunned till April but I would want to add the parts now.

My stock 340 injectors were maxing out with barely over 200 whp on my car. After putting in 380's we were still maxing them out after I installed my head.

I currently have 440's (OEM Bosche) and fueling seems to be fine.

It's unlikely that you're running rich with stock injectors at your level of mods. We couldn't do a dyno run and keep the fueling in check at redline (We're running to 8.2k rpms though) until we put the 440's in. My car would always go lean.

I'd say that anything more than an intake and exhaust and you wanna get 380's. Intake, Pulley, Exhaust, and Tune, and while the car will run fine, you won't be able to get the most out of the engine without 380+ injectors.

380's would help. but you would not have to get it tuned for that small of a step. If you are thinking about some of the more serious mods for the future, I would personally buy the 440's and have a tune done until you really step it up to the next level...adding the head is the main component then, header etc...and if you are crazy enough...Rotrex, or twincharging, or full turbo(gets really complicated)

I had my 380s last week in prep with RMW tune. I was taking it easy but the itch to run hard for a short burst caught me yesterday. My impression is it feels a little sluggish without a tune and that's exactly what the MINI tech told me too. He was trying to sell me the JCW software for a good deal to smooth my mods together but I think Jan can tune my car better.

The sluggishness made me check my car yesterday night & found that the intercooler rubber boots were not fitted securely. There was a boost leak! The power went back after re-aligning and tightening myself but I know that there is more to be had after the tune.

The 380s are not that much of a change in flow...

about 10% or so. The ECU can compensate during closed loop driving or you'd throw a rich code. In open loop, you're running a bit more rich than before... But yes, you will benefit from the tune...

adding 380cc injectors without retune can cause idle problems and misfire codes?
