08 exhaust question

Hi... (first post). My wife ordered her new 08 MCS and it will be here next week. I have been researching exhaust options for her and i have a question. I would like to stay under $600 or so on an exhaust and i have found some, but for earlier years used. Do i need to find an 08 specific exhaust or can i buy one from a previous year, and just have the hangers rewelded in the proper spot?

If anyone knows of an exhaust for an 08 could you please point me in the right direction (i'm not stuck on used i would prefer new, but don't know were to look). Thank you ahead of time.

You can only use an exhaust labeled "R56" or "2007+". The 2007 exhaust is perfrectly fine, but anything prior to that is the old model (R50, R53, etc.) which has a completely different exhaust path. You can't currently buy an aftermarket cat-back or turbo-back exhaust for under $600 (am I wrong anybody?) but you could always have an exhaust shop weld you up one for less than that. Alta's cat-back system (the most popular currently) runs about $770.

Why would you change the exhaust if it's for your wife? would she appreciate a louder car?

There's Borla, but that's pricier.

I believe the R56 is 07/ 08 same set-up, Borla sounds great, but as stated before..."Is your wife going to appreciate a louder car"?
Alta CAT BACKS is one of the more reliable parts concerning fit, finish and emissions. I got at tremdous deal on mine, I paid 649.00 for my R56 catback. You just have to shop around. You may also choose to just replace the muffler, I saw on here a guy who used a WRX muffler, sounded great!

i emailed them as well and this is what i got in reply,

"ETA is 3/25/08 for the r56 s exhaust, two versions street and race.
Thanks VIP"

so i'm looking forward to that. i'll still look into my other options though thank you for all your input. Don't worry my wife appretiates anything that makes more HP/TQ the sound is a biproduct to her (as long as it doens't sound like a fart).
