Question about injectors

If i put in 440s would i be able to drive with them right off the bat? I replaced my injectors on my turbo civic from stock to 440s and the car would barely run until i got it tuned. Is it the same with the mini s? Also, how big are the stock mini s injectors?

I think you can. since you do have a pulley upgraded.
it might run really rich but still, driveable.

extra fuel is always good

I believe stock is 340cc and JCW is 380cc.

What happened to my buddy's car was he ran huge injectors on his car without out a tune. Eventually, he washed out the piston rings by having to much fuel in the combustion. I want to know if someone has done this before without any problems. Thanks for the help guys.

You can start and run the car just fine, if your injectors are high quality (not re-drilled). MINIs will start and idle fine on injectors as big as 510cc. Your car will not run efficiently, however, especially at first, and alway when you floor it. In a nutshell, here why: under idling and normal driving conditions, your car has the ability to evaluate how much fuel is going through your cylinders, and make adjustments. It can make small adjustments to the amount of fuel your injectors put into the cylinder on each fuelling stroke quite quickly. It takes more driving time to make bigger adjustments, which is what you would need with 440s. Until that time, you would not be operating the car at peak fuel efficiency. When flooring it, the car no longer makes those adjustments and goes to pre-set fuelling protocols. You would then be running extremely rich, which can be bad for your catalytic converter, oxygen sensors, and wallet in the long run. But to answer your question: your car will run without sputtering with those injectors assuming that they are good quality and have a good spray pattern.

One more question. What are good quality injectors? Meaning reliable brands.

I guess I'll ask my stupid question, I just put JCW injectors in my mini with a 15% reduction pulley.. am I in trouble? I was hoping to have Jan tune my car in late January, but it looks like its going to push out about a month, so I'm wondering if I'm ok running this way for at least the near term.

First time I've heard this.

BTW - I'm going to be changing to 440s in the near future when Jan does some more magic to my engine and am currently running 380s.

I have some 400s for sale if you'd be interested in them. They happen to be M7s and are in excellent shape.

PM me if interested.

Hello I was just wondering how difficult it is to install upgraded injectors? Do I need more special BMW tools? also would I need to have acess to diagnostic tools as well. Just wondering because im about to put on an alta V 2.0 19% Sc pulley?? any advice on this would be great thanks

They are very easy to install, pretty difficult to screw up. No BMW special tools, no diagnostic tools necessary, although moving upward in CCs will require a good ECU flash to get the most from them - try Jan at revolution Mini.

BUT - if you don't have a Bentley Manual yet, get one, you can't go wrong with the manual in front of you.

Choices in order of "wow": 1. Jan from Revolution Mini - custom dyno ECU tune. 2. Your MINI dealership - ask them to flash your car with the JCW ECU tune - this may, or may not, cost you. Each dealership is very different on this. 3. ECU piggyback - UNICHIP, etc. (ALTA, etc.) 4. Leave it as is. (basically no "wow") Happy Motoring!

not much of difference.. if you aren't going really big.
stick with 380cc unless you can find a legic non-re drilled 400cc. Then, do w/e..
