The added benifit of steam cleaned internals is a bonus:smile: 97F in heavy traffic, I watched my AT shoot up to 145-150F Once the traffic opens up, it's very sluggish and only managed to get into the 120F range...and that's with Alta TMIC and sprayer. Water injection into the IC would be benificial on days like these. So what's the verdict? Aquamist, Coolingmist or others?

That depends entirely on the chemical composition of the steel (especially the amount of chromium and nickel), the heat treatment and whether the crystalline structure is face centered cubic, body centered cubic or hexagonal closely packed. There are steels that corrode worse at low temperatures than they do at high temps, steels that don't corrode in salt water as long as it's moving and steels that only corrode in salt water if it is moving, etc.

MSFITOY,

There really is no verdict. I am using the 100 PSI Coolingmist system for about 8 months injecting Seattle rain water pre-intercooler without problems and with a documented 10 HP gain in a heat soak situation. Others claim to "like" Aquamist with little data. See the photo of my installation and further information in the "do it yourself water injection" thread.

Thanks John for the update. I must've missed the install photo...or are you talking about the one image you put up? Do you have more images? The Coolingmist 2 stage looks good for 90 degree weather. What do you think?

Thanks,
Sid

Sid,

I have other images, but they won't help much.

The WI will likely help in 90 degress weather. However, I saw it's effectiveness on a 65 degree day at Portland International Raceway (PIR) last month. A track day, and was enjoying a friendly rivalry with a great woman in another MCS "Lemon Drop". We would start each session where Lemon Drop would pass me on the front straight and she'd let me pass her on the shorter back straight. She is great in the corners. After 10 minutes (read: heat soak) she really couldn't readily pass me or others any longer in the space available, and, I could easily leave her in the dust. I attribute the maintanence in my top end HP to the WI. That's my story. In the past, I could ping the engine in 6th gear going up a certain hill at a certain speed. No longer. WI the reason?
