just looked it up. books says, car does not have full engine power. you may continue your drive, but moderate your speed and have the car checked by a mini dealer.

odd....

That is an issue with ultra cold temps (not saying 23 deg is ultra cold) and in long pulls in higher gears. Should reset. What fuel are you using? This is a known issue.

argh... this cold-temp issue is an annoying one. Mine threw it and reset later that day, but annoying none the less. Also get that lovely dying-car sound when you start it on a cold day.

Same! Are MINI's really that sensitive to the cold??? This is my first car so I have nothing to compare it to.

5 degrees this morning and my MINI laughed at me and said "yeah, right" on the first start attempt, stalled and threw that light up there. Started it again and the light was gone and everything was fine. Though I've had the other yellow outline CEL on and off for about 3 weeks now. Gotta say, the MINI's electrical or computer system is way too sensitive. Kinda miss just jumping into a car and not having to look for a bunch of lights.

Not that I've owned many cars (3 to be exact) but this is the first one I've had that is such a b!tch in the cold. I'm gonna have to start plugging it in at night like a diesel...

Must be the british part of the mini that doesn't like cold since it doesn't get colder that freezing in GB for the most part.

I haven't had any cold start issues except for the Nav unit not coming on after it sits overnight in the cold. Car fires right up and likes to be driven so far.

I love the heated seats in the winter!

I love the heated seats in the winter! For that matter i like them in the summer too since I have back issues. Nnice to warm up the back and help keep the muscles loose.

I agree this is annoying, especially for my east coast friends and clients. Should be a permanent solution soon.

It's really starting to seem that this whole "testing in the middle of Canadian winter" didn't accomplish much at all.

I think it's more of an issue with German electronics than anything. But, this is my first European car in any form, so I can't fully say.

It's called 'limp mode', like we get in the 335i, and reduces your boost pressure. Usually if you restart the car it will go away. The cause could be related to the car, or related to modifications if you have any.

Tell me about it. My 2003 Cooper with the Midlands transmission was certainly not tested in a cold environment. Two failed transmission seals from cold weather (like -20°F) attest to that.

My 2007 MCS seems to be happier in the cold so far, but it has only gotten below zero one day so far.

Ok. So I got my scanner in today. Read the codes and erased them ( since the car wasnt acting weird anymore). The CEL went off in the speedo , but I still have the that light on thats in the pic. The car also started sputtering like no ones business. It felt like it was gonna stall then it picked back up to normal idle, sound like it was gonna stall, blah blah. The first time this happened I just put dry gas in and it quit sputtering. Now what should I do?

You can go outside in a t-shirt most days in Vancouver throughout the winter, clearly not a claim made by a real Canadian. I wonder where they did their testing !
