UUC flywheel potential problem/question...

i just picked up this UUC aluminum flywheel from eBay.

it was used for one track session and seems to be in good shape. but, i did notice that 3 of the screws used for securing the clutch friction surface to the flywheel were loose! there does not seem to be any loctite on those screws, which are secured from the back with regular nuts.

i'm planning on removing all of them and reinstalling with loctite before torquing. if one of those come loose not only will you have an unbalanced flywheel, but a loose projectile rattling around the bellhousing! AND you'll have to remove the trany again to repair.

so i guess this is more of a heads up, but has this actually happened to anyone before?

i don't want to add any weight as that may upset the balance of the flywheel.

I haven't looked at mine since I installed it early in 2007, but it seems to be working perfectly......even at high hp levels....

Mine has worked fine too. I replaced the surface when I did a clutch recently. I think those nuts are self locking. I would recommend replacing the surface when you install the flywheel. It is about $90 dollars shipped and comes with a new set of bolts.

i don't know if i have defective nuts, but the three that were loose definately did not self lock. i'm just looking for some insurance.
