Drivetrain Front Intercooler
if the goal is - to remove as much heat as possible in the most cost effective and secure method then A/W.
If the goal is simply to be able to say "i have a FMIC"
The sure go for it.
Its not only being able to say that, but also having your car sound like the one in the video which in my opinion sounds killer....If I was to add that sound to my AGS V.3, I think I could have ONE LOUD MINI!!!!!
Well, I want to upgrade the IC. I do NOT want W/A, because of the extra parts and associated maintenance that accompanies it. Plus I would not be comfortable working with a W/A setup.
I want to stay A/A, and have been looking at DFICs, but I would prefer a FMIC because:
1. IMHO, it is much more effective than a DFIC or a larger TMIC
2. That sound IS incredible. I'm not going to lie, I really want that sound.

Well... Randy referred me to Dastek Motorsport, they no longer had any of the kits, they only had one intercooler with no brackets. Dastek then referred me to the company that handled the kit here in the U.S. . They just got back to me, and they also no longer have any of the kits.
So unfortunately, this seems to be a dead end. Looks like if I want to go this route, I'm going to have to find somewhere to help me fabricate a similar kit.

Thanks everyone for the support.
Yes. I emailed Randy to update him about the progress. I'm probably going to do some measurements on my car, as from the pics, I just noticed the bumper support is different on mine. So I'll see what measurements I get, then go from there. Find a core, then see about a shop that can fab up piping/bridge.

You can also just contact a local machine shop. A good welder and some parts it all you would need. Since you have photos of the other FMIC.
Ebay has great cheap complete intercoolers that could be cut down as needed. I used on one my VW golf and took pictures of the inside and they compared exactly to the high ended $$$ FMIC's.

I think this would be great but there would be a very smal amount of buyers willing to pay the potential money involved. I know I would get one because that sounds amazing.

If you built it more like the Fireballed set up I think the cost would be much less. No CF, crazy core. Just find a core size you want and make some adapting tanks like Fireballed.
If you would use silicone you could mount the core solid and use a few ribbed silicone couplers and you should reduce the seal problems dramatically

here is soome info on the Fireballed...also google M600 and see what you get. I think between these three sources you should be able to come up with what you want
Also, give Fireballed a call, they should be helpful.

ok looking a bit further into this, could you not run piping like fireballed did on there old race car setup?? see here http://www.fireballed.com/machines/m600
they basically ran 2.5inch (i think) piping over and down the front. now if you could combined that with the intercooler from the above kit (ie on that fits with the crash bar in place) then it would be a great piece of kit!
could this work??????
Chris.

Thats the Webb Motorsports Mule. The CF kept craking due to the engine shifting around... Give Randy a call, and I'm sure he can point you in the right direction.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows what core that is and where I could get it.
My bad. I read the "does anyone know who..." and thought you were wanting that info. Yes, it has already been said before.
Like I said, your best bet is to call Randy and ask him, or shoot, measure and find a core that will fit.

Poor guy has only 5 posts so no one asked him
.
OK, what is your idea for a FMIC kit for the MCS? And I'm really asking.
Longboard
