Seriously...Is it Wednesday yet? I want my tune. I can't wait any longer. I'm feel like that kid in the Disney commercial that goes "I'm to excited to sleep" except I have been waiting since the Dyno went down.

My GF can't wait till I stop talking about it.

that's the plan. I'm leaving Ashburn at 6:30am and will get there ASAP. google shows me 1hr28min away, so 8-8:15am is a safer bet.

With 233 whp under the bonnet, you should arrive there before us.

it's the traffic I'm worried about. Considering going up Rt15 to 70E...might be quicker at that time of the day.

Cold weather really messes with things...
They took about 10 pulls with my car on the dyno trying to get the temps right...
So the ECU is seeing more power than it should...
After a few cycles it should re-calibrate to the added power..
That was pretty funny when Eric asked if you wanted him to put it back to stock...
Dyno doesn't like the cold either, but 10 pulls is good.
Shows Jan wants to get the tune right and not rushing to get you off the dyno to get to the next one.

70E is fine that time of day. Now the Baltimore beltway, that's another story.

Great meeting everyone (Eric, Jan, and other Mini maniacs) today! The weather was extremely cold for my liking, but well worth the trip.

So it goes, I'm officially RMW tuned! The car runs great! Although I have a automatic, Jan was able to still tune the car using the Mustang Dyno. Only draw back is I do not have an accurate dyno sheet to determine actual whp. Seems the automatic isn't dyno friendly.

First, I had a newly installed JCW kit (see sig) with the JCW ECU flash. The power difference in upgrading from a standard cooper S to a JCW is quite noticeable. The torque and hp is immediately noticeable across the entire power band. Especially on the top end. Which leads me to RMW...

Jan's tune is just simple put... WORTH IT! For me, the most noticeable difference is smooth acceleration and throttle response (again) throughout the entire power band. The throttle feels light and smooth. Down shifts are smooth now. No more lag when you punch the throttle, just smooth power/torque.

*Jan: please confirm or correct?*
Overall power/torque gains:
12 Whp.
20 Ft.Lb.

Overall, I'm very satisfied! I need to do some more free spirited driving to be able to make more comparisons. I hear the Dragon calling my name...

This fact , along with how cold it is during these dynos and tuning, I'm wondering how these cars will survive during the warmer spring and hotter summer months. Will the ECU try and override all this tuning? Or will these cars be running with very cold, dense air performance tunes during the hot light air in summer. Will they be OK because as the mixture becomes rich?
Would be interesting to see some of these cars run the same dyno in the summer and see what's up then.

don't worry, we're not using a UNIchip for our tunes

PGT, ... was hoping for a real answer here. I'd like to understand how this works.
Why bring up Unichip?

most winter gas is an E10 blend (at least near me...not a bad thing as ethanol has a higher octane rating than petrol...it's the oxygenation that's the concern). the stock ECU still learns and adapts, within the remapped parameters. my experience with tunes is more on the Subaru side, but what the Dimsport software does is not very different than the AccessECU that's common for those cars. It flashes it's own programming into the ECU, allowing the tuner to finetune things based on inputs during the session. This doesn't disable the ECU's ability to adapt to things like bad gas, etc.

I've seen dyno runs months after an ECU flash that show the power is still there.

because what you've suggested is an issue with most any piggyback system like the Unichip you use (might have gotten that wrong, but I recall seeing one in your build pics) and ProCEDE. The piggyback overrides ECU signalling, it doesn't work within the ECU.

onasled,

Please think about posting here. You and I both know what it will start and it will only hurt this thread as well as your own.

Just my .02

U gotta be kiddin me...

So far it has only been you and PGT that seem to find an agenda for me posting here.
Have no clue why I should be 'disqualified in posting here. The questions I posted are sincere and I only want to understand how this all really works.
Why would I have to think of defending why I post on certain threads.??

agenda? me? nope. nice of you to infer the power gains were due to the weather and not solid work by all involved (as if strapping on a dyno in 25F weather would get you worse numbers than 90F weather by default.....unpossible!! Perhaps you missed my comment about it being too damn cold to stand there filming the two vids posted)
