I'm really looking forward to Jan getting back here to Cali tomorrow. The fab work on my car has been going all week and as soon as it is finished Jan plans to spend a full day tuning the rotrex. I haven't car since November . Jan took it then asked if I could wait while he used it to develop his new exhaust. After reading all you guys raving about your cars I am really jealous.

I am really amazed at the TQ he is getting from these cars and can't wait to see what he can do with mine after a day of tuning. It's really cool how fare the R53 has come in the last year. I bet you guys are really looking forward to some warm weather.

With all your RMW mods and a day w/ Jan tuning your car, you will need to apply for a pilot's license.

Thirds time the charm, finally got my car tuned today. I'm very happy about the results. 200 hp and 188 ft/lb, not too shabby. I want to thank Jan for his genius, and the guys at Helix. When Eric was on the dyno, I said to myself, please let there be no fuel leak. The drive home was awesome, couldn't stop myself from going to fast. Lucky I didn't get a ticket.

Jan should up the price of his tune alittle and include a radar detector .

Sorry guys Been Busy at work today. So, here's what I got. I'll Have to post the chart when I'm done scanning work stuff.

So here is what I got in November on a Dynojet. I know, comparing different dynos isn't an apples to apple thing but I'm gonna post it anyway just for reference.

Best @ 167.8hp (6200rpm) 152.03ft/lbs - 71 degrees

After installing the 380s and an oil change my base pull looks to be about a max hp of 183 (6000rpm)

After the tune I'm still maxing at about 183hp but the chart will show that I am making more hp through out the whole range up until the 183 mark then it just doesn't want to give anymore. But what counts for me is my torque is now up to 186 ft/lbs and it seem like a nice curve. I'm making more torque than I am hp hmmmm? It's all good with me. The throttle response is immediate just step on it and it goes. The torque always there right in my normal driving range.

Do I wish that I were making 200+hp? Hell ya! Do I care that I am not making 200+hp? Hell no! Is my car a totally different animal than when I drove to philly? Hell Ya! it feels like a different car. everything is immediate and smooth and totally rev happy.

Thanks Jan, Eric and Ralph.

Freakin Awesome!

The mods are below and I turned 99,750 miles on the drive yesterday.

The following is simply curiosity...please don't take it the wrong way!

Why do two of your charts cross at 5250 and the other at around 4800rpm?

Glad your MINI is a blast to drive

No offense taken.

hmmmm...I dunno? The run times are the same. Odd. I didn't notice till you said something.

anyone else have the same thing?

looks like all the plots are right except for where it crosses. maybe a problem with the magnified view?

The scales for HP and TQ are different. They're still actually crossing at 5250.

I don't have access to a scanner, so I did the best I could with the camera. But you can see how smooth both curves are and how the power just doesnt stop coming. I would like to thank Jan again for all his hardwork, both on the Jesus head, and the tune.

Francis

different scales for HP and TQ only change the amplitude of the plot. rpm is a constant scale across the bottom. the "before" plot clearly has the torque and horsepower plots crossing at a lower rpm. this is, by definition, unpossible....something is wrong here.

On Golden_Child's dyno charts, the left and the right are basically the same graph. They look difference because they use the different scales.

If you want to see the graph cross at 5250 rpm, you have to have both hp and torque scale at the same number, like the one on the left.

its the same graph only amplified.... its the way the software shows it
the rpm doesn't seem to correspond like it does on the same dyno run on a normal scale

Unfortunately, for me, you made this trip in the winter when my MINI is off the road. If you can see your way clear to return in the spring you can definately count me in.
Thanks, Steve
