Drivetrain RMW (Jan) Tune - Best mod by far
Jan tuned my '02 MCS today too. The results are excellent:
best baseline pull: 182wHP @ 6900 RPM and 162wLb-Ft @ 4500 RPM
Post Jan tuning: 198wHP @ 7100 RPM and 173wLb-Ft @ 4450 RPM
My car has a 15% s/c pulley, 0% crank pulley, ALTA CAI, OBX header, and my own 2.5" stainless "Cooper style" exhaust.
AFR's ramping from 13:1 at the beginning of the run to about 4k RPM and then 11.0:1 to 11.5:1 through redline, which is excellent for our 10% ethanol fuel.
Oh, I didn't do a "sniffer free" run like TheWrks did; his best "sniffed" run was 202wHP! Cheater, LOL! {I'm just making myself feel better that a JCW beat my car!}
Cheers,
Ryan

I thought 6 was all Jan needed to justify a trip, no?
....because it's a JCW head.
oops, I misinterpreted the question. It's a function of the Dynapack loading the vehicle. Ignore all data below 3000 rpm.

From what I understand
Is thats how the Dyno Pac works It's called "Ramp up time" with a 10 second "Ramp time" or something like that. This is all foreign to me
I'll let someone with more knowledgeable than me explain it

Actually it was 203.5
I have the #'s to prove it
Jan,
What is it going to take to do one of your "Tune Parties" in Houston?, I know you were or will be in Dallas, right?.
Numbers are insane and it sounds like the tune will be more cost/beneficial than any other bolt on I can install on my car (excluding one of your heads)

I made 200.4 after the tune. My best run was 202.7, but it was dangeriously lean and had to be richened... The good news is that by sacrificing thoes 2 horses, I get flames after I let off above 7000!
Count me in
Let us know when you have dates. . .
Jan has stated in another thread that he needed a minimum of 10 to make a trip. Perhaps that was for a long distance trip and needed more people. Since we're in northern cali. which is not THAT far from LA he might be able to do it with 6-7 people.
As it is it seems as if we have about 8 people.
So, Jan, if you're reading this, can we make some arrangements to have you come up to the bay area in the next possible/available time?

Are you planning on signing up?
if so, that would make the list up to 9 people which would include:
1-SharoSC02
2-Nabashin
3-tazio
4-brownflyer
5-70spop
6-custard
7-howsoonisnow1985
8-A4blur

Just wanted to add an update. I've now been through two full tanks of gas since the mod. I haven't noticed a loss or worsening of fuel economy and frankly that's sort of amazing because I'm driving much harder now than before...simply because I can.
It might have something to do with the fact that I can be driving in 6th gear more often now, where I usually spent most of my time in 5th. But the smile and fun factor hasn't decreased one bit.

Sounds good Richard. Sounds like you are very impressed and it made a HUGE diffrence. All this goodness without the head. I can only imagine how it feels like with a head upgrade. Now I myself might be doing a tune prior to getting a head as well.
BTW, sorry about the pictures . I dident have time today at all. Hopefully by this weekend.

I finally traced the overly light lines and took a photo of the baseline #1 [before] and after Jan's tuning.
The results speak for themselves; peak torque gains of about 12wLb/Ft, with an approximate average torque gain across the measured band [3k to 7300 RPM] of about 10wLb/Ft!

Good job Jan!

Here is another tune from one of the guys in SCMM and his commentary
Sorry I'm posting my results so late. I had my '03 MCS tuned by Jan last Thursday. I have been wanting to do this since Sept of '06, that's when I initially contacted Jan. But things didn't work out and we never hooked up. Lately I was seeing all of the posts on what Jan has been doing to everyone's cars. So it peaked my interest again and I bit the bullet and scheduled a time for Jan to tune the car. Current mods are Alta CAI, 15% pulley, Magnaflow catback and the first MTH mapping. Jan noticed that I had some type of remapping done and told me that it had way too much advanced timing in it, like 3 or 4 degrees.
The baseline dyno pull came up with 179.8 HP and 163.1 foot lbs. of torque. After Jan did his magic and the final numbers ended up with 203.4 HP and 181.3 foot lbs. of torque! Wow! What a totally different beast I have my hands on now. BTW I'll be in the market for some new front tires now since I've burnt off all of the remaining tread left on them. Here's the dyno chart to shows the difference:

I am enjoying the car more and more each day since Jan's tune last week. For those of you who missed my earlier post, attached is the Dyno result. They are both Jan's tune, the smoother one being the final one. I started with a very strong MINI w/ basic mods (15%, CAI, CB). Your final results may differ but the delta will blow your mind.

that is the delta from the second tune after fixing the fuel issue...
you need the chart of the first tune to show the overall delta
Thread created. Now someone needs to coordinate...

Now everyday driving for most people the RMP range is 2200-5500....
he's my example:
Between 3000-5550 RMP "Merlin" has over 160wTQ maxing out at 172.7@3600
Now Larry:
Between 2700-7200 RMP Larry's MINI has over 160wTQ maxing out at 193.4@4189
