ALTA ECU Installed today

I recieved my ALTA/ UNICHIP ECU today. I finished installing it about an hour ago. The install was pretty straight forward if you are not scared of wiring diagrams. The whole install took me about 1 1/2 hours, that included splicing and soldering wires.

Test drive. Well I can say that I am happy and that it is a $700 well spent. The power increase is DEFINATELY noticable. 2nd and 3rd gear are crazy the way the car keeps pulling. I cant wait to go to the local drag strip! Its definately a 13 second car now.

This mod is more noticable than any other mod that I have done to date.

was this the PnP unit ? I was under the impression there was no cutting/modifying of the wiring harness required ?

- edit - nevermind, saw the post here

I see they sent you the hardwire version.

No, I was too impatient to wait for it. I wired it myself.

glad to hear its well worth the money. if by adding that you'll have a 13 sec mini that would be sweet. i dont know if this has been answered but with the ECU does it eliminate the "overboost" function and hold the boost constant through acceleration? i ask because i like the over boost function on the stock MCS but i can definitely tell when its not in over boost mode.

It really does haul. 1 st and 2nd gear dont feel too much different. 3rd ,4th and up are amazing. 3rd pulls like second. Definately have to hold on to the wheel tight.

Very nice! Do you have any pictures / or where's the location of the install?

Can't wait to see results on the dyno and track hopefully one day

Are you planning for a FMIC any time soon?

Ok. From what I can tell so far the ECU acts just like it did before just much better. The boost really comes on in the upper gears.

Scott. Looks like it it is all under the hood. Instead of having all the multi-colored wires joining the ECU to the Unichip,we'll have a harness that will plug in.
Mike. Where did you run the wire through the firewall to the inside rocker switch?

I did not install a switch. It's on all the time. I really dont see a reason to turn it back to stock.

Not sure yet. I have been driving it very hard since the install. When cruizing on the highway the instant MPG looks the same as before. I dont expect much of a loss if any. The only problem is that its just too much fun, and I keep putting my foot into it.
