Drivetrain Burble
Burble
I have an early build 04 MCS. There is not much burble in the exhaust. My understanding is they increased the burble in the later builds of 04 and then continued in 05 & 06. I would like an exhaust with a deeper tone than stock--BUT, I don't want all the burble conected with some of the aftermarket exhausts. The sound clips of the Milltek and Borla Street sound great, but have more burble than I'd like. My question is: since my MCS has less burble (there's that word again) than the later models, would there be less burble with an aftermarket exhaust. What the hell is burble anyway and where does it come from? The exhaust? The program? I'm burbled-out!
It comes from the ECU, and yes it would have less burble than an '05 or '06. Basically it dumps a little fuel into the cylinder on the exhaust stroke and in detonates in the headers, making the poping noises.
Do the One-ball mod and you'll be good to go. I did mine a little over a year ago and love it, until I make a custom exhaust.
One-ball, modification to the stock system, search it and you will find a lot. and it only takes $50-$90!
Hope this helps, and have fun with it!

, Jan is comming to tune a bunch of our cars, I love my burble
I've been wondering if these guys who do the custom dyno tunes, like LDG or Jan, can add it back in or add it to pre 2005 cars. It's just part of the timing right?

Not really timing, just how the injectors are programmed. I'm sure they can do pretty much anything. I know guys who want to shoot fireballs out the exhaust that will inject fuel on the exhaust stroke. I think the burble is more due to the injectors not fully shutting down when your off-throttle.
