John/LDG said the M62 has its use ("high-revving track app") but that it's a PITA to successfully add + tune, and high cost meaning low commercial viability.
And I don't see the prob with totally off-topic banter like this now that the tuning day has come and gone. As long as it remains civil o' course.

as for cost... nothing done right... is going to be "cheap"... especially when you are a niche in a niche lol.... there's a TON of work that goes into the M62... just like doing a turbo only... it take time and money...
i'm done trying to have any sort of discussion in this thread lol. fwiw I don't want to put words in Jan's mouth... but from talking to him... i'd assume he doesn't care about all this bickering and nonsense.
Jan's prob got his head down and his eye on the prise as usual ignoring all the vendor bs in this community, instead focusing on teh customers. I think it's however safe to say, that bob myself and everyone else involved in this tuning session never assumed this thread would have assploded the way it did. haha

enough ***** competitions. I personally would not run a 19% unless I had a head to cope with the extra boost they produce at high rpm. I still question the life of the super chargers at this rpm with regards to cavitation... but jan would know a boat load more about this then i would.
Also... fwiw... not all injectors are created equal... ie size isn't the only thing that matters.

After seeing the numbers on a 19%, I can certainly say, they're tasty. I worry about how much heat you're pushing through the engine though. With a 15 I consistently see IAT's of 130-150 on the track. Pushing it hard i've seen as high as 180 degrees. On anything but race gas 180 degree intake temps are going to cause LOTs of detonation.
. Ever heard of CARB? California has some of the strictest smog laws in the WORLD. You can get pulled over, and get a ticket for having an intake here, hell, i've seen people pulled over who got thousands of dollars in tickets for everything on their car. Maryland is a joke compared to California.
Looks like a HPD track day from what I can see. No mention of what class was run or what records were broken either . It would be unusual for a organizing body to run such an event during the week but perhaps this was something special. Still waiting on the details as are others in the thread you listed are as well .
Find a central location, agree on a date and show up. Then compare lap times. Make it fun, swap drivers and see who runs what.
Yeah trackster it was an HPDE. It's not SCCA or NASA, there are no classes. Just a bunch of folks out having a good day on the track. Times were kept and seems those at the track that run these events happen to know over time what Mini's generally should run. Just as they know what a GT3 or an Evo or a Subbiw should be able to run. Looks too like Jan and Sean are turnign times those that know think are better then the norm. Figure there is some exhuberance knowing that what they did was consdered better then the norm. They are human and like talk up their success. Is it that hard to allow someone to be happy and proud of their accomplishments.
BTW trackster...with a nick like that what tracks do you run? In your Mini? Do you keep track of your times, they do make a great teaching tool.
