Having seen several -- and used -- the Helix SSK, I have found that if no threadlock is used on the set screw, it can loosen over time . . . but that's only a problem if you're trying to save big bucks by not using 2 drops of red thread lock.
Come on Adam, you're not curious, you are trying to cast doubt about the efficacy of our shifter so as to sell your. Let's call a spade a spade.
I've been thinking about having you put your Helix short shifter of my '08 R56 MCS but, having now read all the posts on this thread, I'd first like to know (1) the downside, if any, of not being able to put the bottom cover of the shifter box back on, (2) whether your installation includes anything to prevent or reduce heat coming into the car from the exhaust system, and (3) whether you use a threadlock in your installation process.

Thanks in advance for your answers.
Since you are in Philly, BobinPhilly, why don't you stop by the shop and see the quality of the part, and drive a R56 with the shifter on it to answer your questions. The installation instructions call for red locktite when tightening the set screw.
