Here's what im talking about.

I measured the width of each cutout and they're 1 1/4in each so maybe 2 1/2 total opening is normal for backpressure.

i wonder how many chad's got left... im really really tempted to swap out my rusted up catback for this

only worry is that with the obx header will it make it painfully loud inside?

I did find one thing i didnt like about the exhaust if no one else noticed. Inside the tips you can see the cutout made into the cross pipe for the mufflers not being fully cut out to match the inner pipe diameter for the tips. Instead they only cut out oval openings that are half the width of the inner pipe diameter. i dont even know if i can get a tool in there to cut the opening bigger
I found the same thing, the thing you don't see is the inlet is done the same way.

The shop that installed mine was the shop building the current header I am using, they opened up the tube intersections with a grinder to match the pipes attached to the tips.
Then thinking that if they did that to the exit, they probably did it to the inlet also. Sure enough after cutting the inlet pipe off there was the same little slot that you see on the exit.

No wonder this system is advertised as a quieter than a Magnaflow, I have had a Magnaflow and it doesn't look like that on the inside.

The installer then created a true "V" intersection at the inlet so the flow was open and not restricted.

Well that created a lot of flow alright, so much so that the packing on the resonator and the mufflers quickly shot right out the back. The back of my car was covered with a white cloud of what looked like fiberglass/cotton packing for a week. Every day I would clean it off and after driving for a few miles it would be covered up again. You wouldn't believe how much of that stuff was in there, my car is Blue and you virtually couldn't see any color or the glass on the boot.

Now with no packing and a nice flow through system + a header and no cat, it is easy to see why my car registered 118db while running on the dyno.

Yes I will be adding a cat into the system, but will probably also have to replace the muffler cans to regain some of my hearing.

But I am having a little fun with it, nobody tailgates me on the freeway any more they stay way back, and I am getting a lot better at looking out for the local law enforcement.

ugh....i didnt even think about the inlet. so its exactly the same shape 1 1/4 in width as the exit cutouts? i can now understand the rear since in total they equal 2 1/2in but having that small of an inlet doesnt seem right. cutting off the inlet looks like its gonna be a pain. did they jus cut the weld off and reused the same pipe or they made a new one?

EDIT....i just looked inside the inlet side and the cutout is bigger then the tips but not by much...maybe a 2in width cut...cant get a tape measure in that side.

They kept the same cross pipe but cut a new "V" shaped opening in it and fabricated a new center pipe, the angle on mine was off anyway.
Then welded the new pipe onto the cross pipe with the proper mating angle and opening.

If you missed it in an earlier thread, here is what it sounds like

HOLY SH*T....thats way to loud.....I installed mine last nite and found i didnt need to move the small hangers on the inside as the outer ones are turned the right way and enough to hold it up i found when mocking the exhaust up before welding it.

It sound great but im going to cut the tips off as those small cutouts are making a huge wooshing noise on high rpms so im going to open it up all the way. plus i wanna setup the tips perfectly and move them in alil and angle them up

of coarse i forgot my camera so i used my phone to take a few pix of the welds

Hey dog, you didn't tell me you got yours already! I ordered before you and mine's not in yet.

So, who did the welds below? Are those the factory ones, or yours from the clampless install?

"Huge whoshing sound...." Suck. That's not good.

I got it yesterday early noon. those are my welds that my friend did for me so i didnt have to clamp it. Def feels like the car can breathe alot better now and the tone is actually nice....the wooshing noise in my eyes are those cutouts we talked about inside the tips and maybe the one in the inlet pipe on the mufflers.

He is also gonna put a spacer plate between the tips so the air isnt slamming into each other before exiting thru the tips. He didnt like the designed of the cross pipes on the front and back side of the mufflers

I ordered mine today (2-26-08) from PerformancePeddler.com for $255 shipped to Chicago. He says it should ship 2moro and i should see it Thurs or Fri. H said they have 6 left and wont be getting any more, the company Maremont is not producing the Volt line anymore. He also said that it is a 3 peice kit and all that is needed is 2 clamps. It will go on my stock 05 plus 15% pulley and will let you guys know what i think of it.

I got mine today from Performance Peddler.....and the connecting end on the last part was totalling bend and closed shut. It looked like a brick slammed on it and bent it out of shape. Can a shop fix this or send it back?

The tips look a bit off too, not straight.

yea....the right tip is not str8 on mine too.....a muffler shop can most likely reopen the pipe....depending on the shop id say cut off the effected pipe and weld a new end on.

Yeah i had it about a month, then resonator delete, just gives it a bit more pops burble etc. The exhuast really isnt that loud. A little more subtle than the magnaflow.

Im also about to cut the "Trumpets" off and get tips or just run it raw with nothing, triying to find some tips, but finding short tips liek that is proving to be difficult. Any suggestion?

depending on the snow we get which is coming now, ill take pix of the tips on how they sit and some sound clips.

Let me know what tips you end up running, if you run any. I will be running a OBX which is almost an exact copy of the Supersprint, are you running a cat? With the resonator deleted it may be a tid bit louder but nothing rediculous.

i installed mine today. product looks great, beautiful shine, but the packaging must have been done by a pre-schooler! my 05 is completely stock plus a 15% Webb pulley. Sounds nice upon start-up, idle is only slightly louder, revs nice and mellow (was expecting it to be ricier), pops more noticable than before, noticabely louder when driving normal, feels like i gained more power in mid-range RPM but deffinately at higher RPM. i noticed it pulls more above 5K instead of kind-of coasting till the next shift. Im not fond of the tips, i think theyre ugly. probly cutting off and putting on some slant cuts but thatll be for another day. overall if i could do this again, i wouldnt change a thing. the system is well worth the money and 3Xs over!

does anybody else notice this? its most noticable when you go heavy on the gas from 1st gear to 2nd gear........ when its at 4500-redline, i hear not so much exhaust noise but a loud WHOOSH of air, it goes away when you shift early and then comes back at that RPM range. sounds awesome!!!!!!!! like a turbo spool or something!

1FSTMINI noted the same whooshing sound. He thought it might be the smallish holes in the main pipe that leads to the tips - restricting air flow and creating the 1975-Ford-Station-Wagon-whoosh!
