To Quaife or not to Quaife.......Quaife

I just got my car back after a month in the shop.... I put in a new Clutchmaster clutch and FW along with a Quaiffe.... those qwho have told me the Quaiffe does not make much difference have not spent much time on GA 60 in the N GA mts...... WOW what a difference...... accelerate out of the corners much earlier with extreme confidence..... I love the Quaiffe..... the Clutch and FW are such an improvement over my well worn stock clutch thatall I can say is the car is much improved and I am feeling happy.......

Sweet man! Glad everything is going good. That's what my plan WAS...but, I "might" ditch my turbo Mini plans right now. I just sourced a wrecked M3 as a donor car for my 325.

I new you would love it. Sounds like you are keeping the car now . I love my CM clutch and flywheel. I have the OBX LSD and love it.

I'm really glad you are enjoying your car again. It's all about the how big of a you have after driving your car. No matter if it's stock or modified. it's allot of work being a test pilot. I know this very well. In the end it's all about the experience.

Whats the Diff

That's great that you like the diff, it's on my fantasy mod list maybe when my list looks more like yours it will be worth putting the extra HP to the ground. Any word on the injectors?

How much lighter is the new clutch and Flywheel over stock? I have an 04 tranny and would love to have the car pull off the line better. Also is there any Chatter?
Glad you got your Mini back.

I have not mastered the clutch from the stop sign so I just roll through (JK ) it is a little bit more sensitive but very nice. Check with Jan at RMW as that was my source and he can give you the specs.

Congrats Bob! Really happy for you, and hope you can find a place in your heart, and garage, to keep your MINI. I will always want a FWD or AWD vehicle, so the MINI is part the family here. Be well.

I curently have 30k miles on the car and don't think I will need new clutch set-up anytime soon, or so I think.

How many miles did your stock clutch lasted Bob?

Bob-
Glad to hear you are happy with the results. I had a similar learning curve with my UUC clutch and flywheel. Now that I have about 5k miles on them the launch is much, much smoother. Both due to me learning how just to do it, and it has worn in well. I still fear the uphill launches a bit, but have not stalled in awhile. Now all you need to do is throw a turbo on that thing and you will be good to go! hehehehehe........

Good to hear you are enjoying your upgraded differential.

For other NAM members: more info on the Quaife see
http://www.quaifeamerica.com/differentials/diffs.htm

The part is about $1300+
Labor can be expensive.

Many new buyers of the MCS with manual transmission can order the factory LSD option but it is not the same as the Quaife.

It only took two years to convince you...

When you can spin tires with a Qaiffe...then you have real power...becareful powering out of corners or you'll loose steering while the two tires are spinning...
