Drivetrain Alta's CAI install
soulembrace: Looks good and thanks for posting the faux-toes! Hope you are enjoying it. NOTE: You can loosen that clamp and rotate the filter around and the logo will be readable from the front. Just an FYI not a criticism.
chat soon! Thanks again for the biz-nez!

adam when the time comes what's the best way to clean the filter?
i'm not sure if i hear the blow off valve or not (not to sure what it would sound like) but i do hear it sucking in the air though.
I think you'd know if you heard it. psshhtt noise when you let off the gas.
now that i know what sound to be listening for. during my drive this morning i listened for that psshhtt sound and i did hear it.
Hey folks! When you go to clean the filter use the kit on our site to do it or similar. Every 5-7k should be frequently enough.
Also, this is mentioned in the instructions but it stands to reason to mention here as well, be sure to remove as MUCH of the excess oil off the filter before installing it in the car. When they get mfrd they tend to leave a bit too much on the filter. Use some shop rags or paper towels to get it all off of there. This is also the case when you service the filter, not to over oil it then either.
Thanks again everyone!

There is no BOV on the car so it is unlikely he would hear the sound. There is an accordian expansion tank that relieves pressure when the trottle plate closes. No air escapes the system or recirculates when the throttle plate closes so there is no rush of air to hear.

I take it too much oil would cause the MAF to freak out?

The diverter valve is LOUD with an intake like altas that has an open filter. It still works just like a normal DV and you can hear it very easily. The DV is electronically controlled and there is an expansion tank but the tank only holds enough pressurized air so the car can choose to open the DV for part throttle or cutting boost. I have an intake like altas and look forward to getting the real thing soon.
Speaking of intakes, can we get a plug for the turbo noise generator? I don't like the idea of that part being in my car. A nice alta plug with the boost tubes would be a great addition!!!
I agree, the diverter valve absolutely screams w/ this intake. It's not quite as loud as a VTA bov, but it's there each and every shift. I'm actually not a big BOV fan, but it's just right for me at this point.
I was under the impression that the electronic diverter valve functions just like a BOV, just via a signal from the throttle body and that the according tube was just a noisemaker. I removed that noisemaker after break-in (and didn't notice any change in noise
)
This intake is awesome, we had a bunch in stock over here and I had to jump on it -- glad I did, my car's alot faster.
I will dyno it next week, just like w/ the TBE. If anybody's interested in these intakes or anything else Alta, PM me or JSC Speed and we'll be glad to accomodate.

Great addition and easy enough install...
I installed both the CAI and Boost tube replacement hoses. Took about 1 1/2 hours.
Adams instructions on the Alta web site were very helpful. A quick help for any of you that will be doing the boost tube replacement of factory parts. There is a torq screw that is somewhat difficult to access and I can provide an easier access method. If you use a screw driver handle torq tool
it is very simple to gain access to this somewhat inconvient located position, access behind a hose, if you have straight-forward access it is much easier and will be removed in the matter of seconds vs minutes trying to get a typical "L"
shaped torq tool.
