Luckily she likes jamming as much as I do =) Just don't let off the gas between tracks.
I'm not going to say anything to her and maybe she won't notice (yea right)
just say it's an air leak out of the tires due to the sudden weight transfer of shifting, and it would probably be best for her to get out ....later tell her you fixed it, all is good, but that she doesn't need to ride in it again
Question from a noob, for anyone who's got the CAI installed. When you punch the gas, you can hear the sucking in of air. Do any of you hear a very high pitched whistle-like tone along with the sound of the air? I've checked all the fittings for air leaks, and everything is snug. Maybe the sound is just normal(?)

It is normal because mine does the same thing. It is the turbocharger "singing". I may be in the minority here, but I haven't decided if I like the sound. Superchargers sound sweet but turbochargers.....well...to the uninitiated, it sounds like something in the engine is busted....like a spun bearing. What would make the Alta system darn near perfect would be an inclosed box that would isolate cold from hot air. Maybe someday.

Oddly enough the area where the filter is located is actually flooded with good, clean, and cool air. The fresh air tube bathes it from the ear of the filter, the scoop allows a draw back over the motor, and the air flowing under the car somehow is drawn up into the back of the motor. The on dyno testing revealed significant gains with the hood shut and no spike in IAT's.
Hope that helps! Let me know if I can ever help further.

Thanks Adam. It is a good system. Today my Turbo Inlet Hose should arrive. I can hardly wait to get it on.

does the tone get really loud around 5k? That's the sound of the turbo spinning at tens of thousands of rpms.
Not only does the CAI free up air but it frees all the different sounds the turbo makes.
Gotcha. Thanks to those who replied. I'm enjoying the heck out of the CAI. Being a mod noob, though, my first thought at an unexpected noise is, "crap, I did something wrong."
Here is a lesson learned....be careful that you do not over-tighten the filter assembly when you clamp it to the new shroud. If it is tightened too tight, the plastic will break beneath the clamp and you'll need a new filter assembly.
