i'll know (hopefully because the quote is a week delayed) within the week how much the synchros will cost, the shop that's repairing the Mini has a german source, hopefully they don't milk me too much

 

At least you found a source, I'd bet they'd charge like $300-400 for the synchros. Let me know what they charge and see if they'll discount some for ordering more than 1... PM sent

 

$300-400 for all 7 synchros i plan to order? i'm actually expecting that the guy who'll be ordering the synchros for me will charge me $100 each!

i pray daily that the guy doesn't burn too big a hole in my pocket

 

Maybe you're right, after all it is a BMW MINI lol. Gear sets for Honda's are under $300. I still don't think it would be $700 total for the gear set, if you order all the synchros they might charge less. Who knows...

 

update:

shop owner just called me, the german source CAN get me the synchros but AREN'T sure that they can get me the correct ones. shop owner gave the part #s that are on the synchros themselves but the german source cannot guarantee that he can get the exact parts

(still in a state of confusion)

the hunt now shifts into finding a used tranny. do any of you guys know reputable sellers? i'm really considering getting the used 02 tranny from an ebay seller/shop that's offering 6 mos warranty for their tranny with 53k miles

actually tried searching car-part.com last night, came across a LOT of shops in CA. should i go remanufactured or used transmission?

 

Whichever is cheaper. I was tight for money so I jumped on the 04 Tranny but I had searched around and found an 05 Tranny with like 10k miles with the factory LSD for $1300 + Shipping. Unfortunately couldn't afford it at the time but I regret not getting it...

 

well, being in the philippines, shipping will be costly so if i can save on the tranny...why not? lol. already posted a WTB in the selling section. hopefully i get a few bites
