mini_macky, Yes of course I have measured chassis flex (static) before and will again in 12 days when the adhesive reach full mechanical performances. The twist with sun roof was 4 millimeters the first time, 5 millimeter the second time from front to rear suspension pick up point on the sub frames. Pretty stiff car if you ask me. I don't have the equipment to test in dynamic, scale pads, load cells, and all that good stuff .
Thank you guys for the comments, and Chris, I did have the time but it,s over, starting new job on Monday.

I just got through reading the entire thread and I have to admit you have done some amazing work. I too came from the sailboat world where CF has been a mainstay for years and have actually had the unique experience of utilizing a Cf toilet and made sure to wash my hands in the Cf sink after. The killer CF piece on board was the CF shelf system in which the 2 gal Margareta ball resided. It appears that your back to work which is good for you but bad for us . That CF roof replacement piece is something I ,and obviously many others on here ,would dearly love to have . I can see it being worth at least 5 or 6 times those material costs if you ever decide to go into any kind of limited production . Thanks for showing us all the way things should be done and hope you continue when you have the time .

Wow. Just plain wow. I have to echo everyone else in this thread. That is absolutely amazing. If I were to pick two mods that I desperately want to do if I had the funds, those are them. Excellent work! I look forward to what's next!

Wow, that's absolutely amazing & makes me wish I had a sunroof just so I could delete it! I'm looking forward to any parts which you put into limited CF production.

Carbonized,

Ever think about making a mass-produced fiberglass version of your rear seat delete???

It wouldn't have to be as pretty if it were covered with carpet & it still would be very light.

Not trying to detract from your amazing work (in fact this might help push you towards production of some sort), but I found carbon fiber sheets for sale on this site: Carbon by Design Sheets. How difficult would it be to cut it into the proper fit? Obviously it wouldn't have the awesome storage capability that yours does, but it'd do the RSD job nicely!

I think you need a "critical mass"
I'd be willing to make a contribution to that...

I second that, my Mini is mostly out of commission in any type of inclement weather, mostly due to the fact that I have bald Falken Azenis' but that's besides the point. Warm and DRY weather equals fun in the Mini!!

I hate to quote myself, but I really want an answer! What would be required in order to complete the RSD using the sheet from the link below?

Puma mini, I suppose You could use some of their product, not the cosmetic ones, and like using sheet metal, add a lots of stiffeners (ribs)on the back side, or use two sheets over a foam core, (essentially what i did), either way looking at the prices I see mega $$$$. For this kind of surface area you need some thing thicker than 1 or 2 millimeter. My deck is a, .5 mm skin/ 10 mm corecell foam/ .5 mm skin, sandwich. You could start with a thin skin of theirs and laminate a core and back skin on it, this way you would get a good outside surface and save yourself a lot of finishing. It's pretty hard for me to explain the principle of "coring" or ''sandwich" in this format (Forum) but goggle "effect of core on composite structure" or anything of that nature and you'll understand what I'm talking about. It's a thin line between mechanical performance, weight, and cost. Hope that helps, if more doubts keep asking.
