I would avoid it.

I bought an Ebay header for my CRX and it turned out to be bent wrong. It fit the engine ok, but where the exhaust bolts up was way off. Had to shorten and slightly bend my exhaust to fit.

It's a Megan. Trust me, I have 2... Well, it's made by the same Chinese manufacturer of Megan, and the little plate that is tack welded on that says "Megan" on a Megan says "4 Race" on this one. The CAT is not a cat, it's a resonator filled with fiberglass that melts after about 50 miles and turns into hard glass beads that rattle like *****.
Read the reviews on the Megan on NAM and decide if $155 is a reasonable price to pay for what you get.

This is based on what quantifiable information?

I have purchased the same header off Ebay. You get what you pay for.

Don't you have some grammer to correct?

No I don't. besides that was spelling issue, not grammer, please get your facts correct.

I only ask why you stated it was not worth it. It is really that much to ask why. I mean I could run around all day and say stuff is good or bad and just saying so does not make it so. However if we are informed as to why the item is good or bad then we can make informed decisions. Since you have first hand experience with the item that is helpful. Thanks for clearing the air as to why you feel the product is bad.

The OBX header is only slightly more ($30 more including the higher shipping) and has met to pretty good reviews.

Good point i will decline from further argument. I have had two Ebay headers and both have been poor quality, also both were under 200 bucks. As far as the problems that i have had with them it would be the wrong size fasteners with the header, flex joint leaked, the great sound you get from the internals of the "CAT" **** the bed and a cracked weld at the flange. It was hard for me to pocket 900+ beans for a good header. But inturn i paid 400 buck for crap.

I'm thinking that isn't a catalytic converter.

hense the " " On the box that the header came with they refered to it as With "CAT". But yes, clearly it is not a catalytic converter.

I think it is a cat, they just have it backwards, bung hole should be after the cat . Dont think they would put a bung on a resonator, but maybe?

Any one listening? It's not a catalytic converter. The picture (used by many other resellers and shown on NAM previously) shows an incorrect mounting of the resonator. The bung is there because the Mini has two O2 sensors, and unless you want the post-cat one dangling down beneath the car, you have to mount it somewhere--in the bung. You'll get a code and light unless you do something about the O2 sensor.
Oh, did I mention it's not a cat...?
It's a Chinese mass produced header, also sold as a Megan, and many other reseller brands. No cat, just a resonator that sucks once the fiberglass melts into beads.

Yes, that little resonator is what they call a Race Pipe. or is that Rice Pipe? The box comes with 2 pieces: the header and the resonator. It's not much of a resonator, but it's also not a straight pipe. I got a race pipe made for mine, and it's the same diameter from flange to flange.

btw, my Megan has nearly 10k miles on it. Seems to work--in the sense that it lets exhaust gases reach the tailpipes...

Still there, still $155, still the starting bid.

Is it still a bargan if someone bids over $200 + $25 shipping?

Dr Phil, do you still have both the megans? I always thought the flex was a benny on that header over the very popular OBX. Would the stock cat fit where the "cat", race pipe, test pipe, cylinder thinglet is? I thought this had been done somewhere on this site.

Absolutely. Actually cutting the stock cat off and welding a flange to it would be one of the best solutions with this "Megan-type" header. I paid $200 for mine from Outmotoring last year. I think it's a reasonable way to spend 200 bucks in the Mini world. However, be aware that the reason I have 2 is because the flex joint leaked badly on the first one, and not so badly on the second one!
TBH, when it finally fails, (I'd guess this is inevitable) I'll bite the bullet and buy a Stahl or something really fancy. Of course, there'll be the cost of the head, and cam, and valves to consider too...
