I took my car apart this morning to see what was up to install one of these. There is alot of crap around it to get access to it. I was going to build my own pipe, to me, it's just a piece of pipe with a mounting tab on it. Plain and simple.
But then I had to go to work, so I am not too sure if I am going to play with it or not. I do not want to take the bumper off or anything like that. Maybe I will try tomorrow.

I hear ya, but its not THAT expensive, I am going to look today to see how hard it will be to install. I may have to just be the first since there is a HUGE lack of aftermarket parts at this point.
I dont mean to sound negative about the R56 but one of my favorite things about my old R53 was the large varity of aftermarket ***** to keep me busy on the weekends

This has been posted for a while, but I just realized what it is-you remove the muffler and two separate hoses and replace the whole thing with this single hose-look down a bit for "Alta Boost tubes"

so, I just finished making my own and it's now installed. It's supper time now, but I will head out for my nightly cruise and let you know what I think. I took some photos, and I will post those as well.
Quickly to say, it cost me $5.00 to make my own and about 1 hour to do. Pretty damn easy.

alright, so I just got back from my "spirited" drive. The main thing I noticed is that the engine sounds a bit more throaty and deeper. Sounds really cool. Next, and I dont know if it was this mod, or that the weather was really nice out and the windows were down, but she seemed to have more power, zippier and more enjoyable to drive.
Now after my 1st hard long run, I pulled over and removed the rad fluid container to see how hot my tube was. Well I tell ya, you cant hold your hand on it for very long!! I wish I had a "laser" temperature gauge for some real temp readings.
So this is what I did, jacked up the drivers side, 7mm socket, loosened 3 clamps. turbo out, muffler in and muffler out. Grab a torx T25 and remove the muffler bolt (it's hard to get at). Remove the rad fluid container, 8mm socket, and just move it out of the way. Then pry/twist the hose off the turbo, then off the mufflers.
2" OD galvenized pipe @ 8" long. I flared the ends out a bit for better air flow and clamping power. Painted it black, and reinstalled everything. I dont see why you would have to reclamp the pipe to the car, it barely moved.
My photos dont show the pipe with the flared tips, I did that after (dont ask, hehe)
There you go.

Ok, so after another great night of driving, here are my conclusions.
My MCS sounds much better, even at idiling, she has a deeper tone.
I really think there is more power coming out of the engine.
I was cruising around for about 30 minutes, when I realized that the sport button was OFF!!! It felt like it was on.
So, my tip, buy one, make one, and try it out. I am very happy with this mod. Plus I even feel now, that the Mini Madness one is worth the money.

I got the mini-madness muffler delete installed, as well as the intercooler diverter with sprayer and the polyurethane bushings.

I think the muffler delete brings some more sound from the engine (in a good way), and I think it's added some power (or at least the feel of more)... the bushings tighted up the engine mount and provide a more direct and responsive feel through the steering wheel and at hard throttling. I'd recommend those parts for sure, and I haven't tested the difference of the intercooler air diverter but it makes sense (puts more forced air on the surface of the intercooler)... I have over 500 miles on these parts, and I did a track day at PIR today with great results. Now I need to upgrade wheel/tires and lower it!
