I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but DSS axles are not indestructible:

This guy broke a DSS axle before going with Raxles:

I have no experience with either, just sharing what I learned from my VW buddies.

Chris managed to break one as well andy...no axle is indestructable. But there are other factors that go into it...VW's are known to wheel hop a lot, and that is absolutly killer on axle's, I'm amazed mine are still around. From what you told me the mini really doesn't suffer from this. From what I do know though the guys at DSS seem to be pretty good guys about things so its worth a shot, and I'm sure the axle's will be better then stock

andy,

te problem with most of hese guys are they are to cheap to buy the right stage axle they need. they lie about the hp they are putting out and go with the cheaper axles. alot of the pro guys are running his axles going in the 9,s so i think he can handle making axles for the mcs. i know there is no such thins as unbreakable but if you tell him exactly what yor pushin he will do the right thing.

I already had a noise coming from the front of my car and figured it was the axle. I was a clicking when going forward from reverse and vice versa. The dealer checked it out and claimed "excessive play in axle", and replaced it under warranty. My car is stock, with only one day of drag racing,(5 runs), and about 5 autocrosses. Maybe the axles should be made better.

The click is in the CV joint not in the axle. How many miles on your MINI?

UPDATE
Well, after a lot of work and a brand new drive shaft it turns out the problem was not in the drive shaft after all. Seems my camber plate had developed a little too much play in the bushing. The top of the shock was pounding against the underside of opening for shock adjustment. Removed the camber plates and the problem was solved.
On a side note; Had a fun weekend at Sebring. Mini was running "Fast and Furious" against a great many Porsche's and BMW's. Managed to get some lap times during one of my sessions. My best times had me 4/10ths of a second behind the Grassroot Race Mini's best times. (Pretty darn good considering I was on street tires and about 500lbs heavier!) Good turn out by other Mini's as well!

Funny,

I have been drag racing my Mini with a quaife and drag radials with no problems at all. Even launching the car spraying the Nitrous.

I'm sure a few guys here will attest to that.
