Drivetrain Sport Compact Car's Project MCS
Go pick up the july issue of Sport Compact Car (or go online to http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com for you cheapos) and check out what they are doing to it. So nice, so tasteful. Much better that euro tuner's S.
I dont want to spoil it for any of you, but I believe I have heard people talking about it here, they want to keep the stock supercharger, and turbo it at the same time. That would be nice.
One thing that is weird is that they havent used anything like the magnaflow or any other MINI specific parts from vendors like Madness etc...
Ok I'll stop, I want to tell you all about it but I would rather you go read it for yourself and then come back and discuss it.

Well there is a "Search How-To" in every forum. I am just doing my part in trying to keep this place clean.

I will say one last thing on the subject that I have already said on the other thread last night. You can use this one to talk about all the performance aspects of the article, which was the intended use. The other one is about letting people know and general talk about it, not performance focused. I understand CooperSpeed and I mean no harm.
Now on with the topic, read the article!

I posted the other thread about the SCC MINI... no need to argue about it
Back on topic, I really like the SCC MINI S i think its the best project MINI so far from all the mags. Theyve done a lot of cool things to it! Dont want to spoil it anymore...go buy the mag! or look on their site if you cant afford the $4.99

!OMG!
That has to be one of the BEST if not THE BEST looking MINI I have ever seen. That is waht stealth is all about. There is way too much chrome on the MINI for me. I love what they did with the door handles, the gas cap, and the headlights. If only I had the money for all those mods. I can't wait to see how they evaluate all the intakes. I also can't wait to see how the twin charging comes out...

There's a reason message boards have moderators and a reason not everyone is one. I understand your ambition, but the post wasn't hurting anything, it enlightened a couple of people and its not your job to be a moderator. Let the folks bestowed with that responsibility execute it.
I liked the car, but I was confused as to why they went to such trouble to run the exhaust straight through the battery box for almost no HP gains. Seems like the simple design should have made great power, but the dyno tells a different story. I know saving weight was important, but the Quicksilver or even NRP probably would have made more sense, right? They could have used the lightweight battery without modding the box. Any thoughts? Great car, though...
This car is absolutely beautiful. TJ read the article first and told me all about it, but this is the first time I have had a chance to actually read it! Thanks for the post!

I love what they did with the door handles, the gas cap, and the headlightsThat is the ugliest mini i have ever seen. Are you kidding me. The chrome is what makes the mini so sharp. The only thing that was kind of cool was the black paint on the chrome gas cap, but that wouldn't look good anyways with my red S. Furthermore the mods are stupid. Why replace the seats if they are going to add weight? Duh! Why change the exhaust if you aren't going to add hp? I'll take 12 horses over saving 34 pounds. I think one horse would be able to handle the extra 30 or so lbs. Another DUH! Not impressed at all. Just my opinion though, not to say your wrong if you like what they have done, just that you have bad taste

Jayar, I'd have to agree with you there. I have taken the same approach/philosphy as presented in the article. And with that I have the QS exhaust and an SLA battery (13.5 lbs). While I still might trim down the box in the future to lose some additional pounds, I shaved quite a bit. Their set-up might be a few pounds lighter, but the name of the game is weight to hp, and the QS has gotten double digits in more than a few dyno runs. So, I'm baffled there as well...
Other than that, good stuff! Thanks for sharing.
Oh, btw one the reasons I haven't cut the box down to size is that I want to make sure the SLA is indeed a viable solution. I still have the stock battery if not. It would suck to cut the box down and then need to revert back to oem :???: But, after 6 or so months, it has been without issue. I figure that if it can survive a summer and one more winter, then I trim the box down...

There's nothing like having a profession intentionally do a half *** job.
The black spray on the chrome is utterly stupid. It's barely applied and is already coming off. How nasty THAT must look!! You'd think the painter would have had the good sense to insist on a clear coat over it.
And 15" wheels look rediculously small and incorrect. I'm sorry, this is not an old Mini, it's a MINI damn it. This car is about embracing the past but moving forward. Small wheels are not moving forward. I don't understand why they didn't at least go for a 16" rim. 15" is too small and looks porpotionally incorrect. Bah!
And exactly how the hell did they get 166hp with a power robbing exhaust and intake??!?! I hope those were corrected figures.
I guess I expected better of SCC. This is really weak. They might as well have bought a can of spray paint and did it themselves. If they really wanted to do things correctly they would have given the trim a black pearl effect, not a "oops it was windy when we were painting the house" look of the black on the chrome.
And one last final gripe, what was the point of removing the lower plastic trim only to put it back, still unpainted. Me no understand. You'd think they'd have it painted as well.

I have a question...what would be the benefit of a turbo PLUS a supercharger? Don't they both just compress air going into the cylinder? Would they work in series? Couldn't you get the same effect by increasing the boost on your existing SC (or turbo)?
I like the SCC MINI, especially if I was tryin to go for the stealth look. But for my MINI I'm going for the retro rally car look so I'm keeping all the chrome. I saw a black/ black roof MINI S on the freeway today, it looked awesome! I thought it was the SCC MINI at first but it wasn't
I think the chrome is kinda odd on an all black MINI.
>>15" is too small and looks porpotionally incorrect. Bah!
Exactly why I want to replace my stock 15" 7 holeys!!!
