I have several parts ordered thru Mini-Motorsport/Randy from MiniMadness. It has been weeks since I ordered, and Randy has been great trying to bird-dog this stuff, including a rear bar, intake, and London Stainless header. I have not directly contacted the people at Madness, but their response to Randy is always"It is going out this week", or "it went out today". No tracking numbers, and no parts.
I am a patient guy, but I ordered this stuff 4/18, still waiting. Got H-Sports from Randy, ordered same day, on 5/2. Stuff from Classic Mini too 10 days. Tire Rack took 2 days.
Is this a classic case of "Check's in your mouth, and I won't come in your Mailbox?"

Evidently, several people are having trouble.
Check out this link on a group buy.

I've been waiting for a London Stainless header for at least a month now. Randy has been helpful and courteous even after a month of weekly pestering: "Where's my header?! Where's my header?! Where's my header?!"

They don't seem to have the supply to meet the demand.

I'm just kinda forgetting about it and when it finally does come it will be a surprise.

I'm still waiting for my rear sway bar... as a fellow vendor, I'd rather honestly over hopefull promises. I always give my customers the same courtesy.

Thanks,

Ordered a carbon fiber intake scoop from Diamond Racing. Whe I called to place the order they said it was in stock and it should arrive in about 7 days. 7 days go by, no scoop. I call and ask about the order and they tell me they are still waiting for it to arrive from England, which means they weren't truthful when I first telephoned the order in. I run an ecommerce aftermarket company for model car parts, the last thing you ever want to do is be less than truthful to a customer about inventory status, we never do. Bad news travels quickly and reputations can be ruined in a flash, when will companies ever learn the truth is the best information you can give a customer, no matter what the truth is. I suspect many companies catering to Mini enthusiasts are either new to this type of business or have completely missed the boat on anticipating demand. I think we may all be in for alot of these types of stories so get ready.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Great Roof Graphic by the way!
I would have to guess that the majority of these vendors business comes from forums like this, and that discussions as this one cannot be good for business.

The caravan carrying the swaybars may have taken a wrong turn at Samarkand. In fairness, the rear bars were being re-designed/improved which has some bearing on their delay. When they do arrive we'll be getting a better product. Don't know about the other items though.. This still beats waiting for Italian car parts ("relax, we taka August off, you recieve a da part in November!&quot

I don't think this is directed towards Randy's business in anyway, nor should it be. I have spoke with him on several occasions and he has always straightforward and honest on Product availability. I think the brunt of Diggy's frustration is with Madness, Randy just happens to be caught in the middle. I agree that the parts are worth the wait, but within reason, of course.

Well, I'm in on the Mini Madness Intake group buy. My credit card was charged 4/25/2003, no intake yet, but in fairness I was told it would take several weeks. I'm being patient, it was a decent price.

has Madness been spending too much time at the Supertuner Challenge, and being a bit lax on their order-filling? Let's hope so.

I'm also on the Intake Group-Buy. When I talked to George last week, he said they'd most likely be shipping "early next week". Let's hope so.

I'll keep my comments to myself, since I prefer prudence over flagrance

Yes, it does. However, my expectation is better than that of my Modenese friends ( I can claim some as dependents).
Randy and Mini-Motorsport has been great, and I bought thru him since we share similar outlooks, have wasted similar money on doing cars wrong

After reading the last 5 pages of thread on mini2, it seems a group buy was delayed because it is a group buy. I really don't care if there is a tuner challenge or not, since my card got charged, and I don't have parts. Randy is stuck in the middle, and so was Tim, who organized the group buy on Mini2. Nice. BTW, I paid full boat for everything, and the prices were fair if I see product. If not, I can light my Cohibas with hundreds and get the same good feeling.

This is happening to allot of us resellers. We are being told that the products are ready to ship, everything has been made, place an order for 5, 10, 20 what ever. Then it will be sent to you ASAP.

But, what happens is not true. I am not sure if it is just the small guys that are getting nailed or not? But, it has happened to a couple of new resellers so far.

It is no excuse but _ _ _ _ does happen. That is why us as venders or resellers have to always be looking for new products and/or other product lines to stay in business.

I do know one thing. Allot of UK manufactures of products did not think the US after market for the Minis would grow as it has.

Supply and Demand. So, sad to say the new resellers do not have as much pull as some venders who can make purchases in the hundreds.

So, we will take our knocks, our hits, the great posts and realize that this is just 1/20 of our businesses and move on. And hope we all have good customer relations skills.

Diggy,
I am in the same boat waiting for the madness swaybar. I received the H Sport springs and Madness intake a couple of weeks ago. Randy called me last week and told me that it was a long story but the Madness people shipped last Monday and that I should get delivery middle of this week. I am not real happy camper but I will give it a few more days. It's tough having springs sitting around waiting for the swaybar.

It's not so much the waiting. It's the Lies. It ships next week... It ships next week and so on. I was told it was shipped already, and would be here last week... or that what's Mini-maddness said to randy, but still no product. I don't mind waiting. just don't like being lied to. If you have a race, and have to delay things.. just tell us. we will understand better than being told they went out, and not recieving them.

I agree 100% Pilo
Just be honest ...and all will work out.

To add to it...most of these companies are "one man shops".....
There'a a point of diminishing returns/ccident waitin to happen when... the equation includes....a large volume of orders, limited inventories, a staff of "one" and.... a group of mini enthusiats who want their "mods" now.

Peace,
D

Sounds like things haven't changed much. I purchased my MINI Madness intake almost 10 months ago, was told repeatedly for about 6 weeks that either it was going to ship in a couple days, that it had shipped, then that it was shipping next week (um, I thought it shipped?), and so on. In my case part of the problem was that I wound up getting what was the very first intake. To get it to me before my Canada trip, George overnighted the intake straight from Rogue (he covered the difference in the shipping cost). As others point out, my problem wasn't with the wait, it was with the changing story that somehow didn't line up too well with the reality of me not having an intake yet. As I said though, George tried to mitigate things in the end with the shipping.

As has been said before, the problem isn't the wait, it's over promising on availability and then not having the product to deliver on those promises.

there is a lot of this happening. I have ordered lots of aftermarket parts from alldifferent vendors and there are a few that ship right away and some who are ordering from a supplier but say they have the items in stock. This is common practice but drives me crazy. I now just deal directly with the main source if I want it right away. Other problems are the shipping costs. West to East coast is high on lots of items and when you see what they paid to ship it they make money on that to. I try to buy from companies as close to me as possible to save on shipping. This really burns me up. Example: I paid $6.00 for a Tee Shirt to be shipped and it only cost them .45 to ship !! That not right.

Diggy, have you even called Madness??? I honestly don't understand the anger. You are calling people liars that you've never spoken to. That's pretty unfair.

Group buys are dealt with differently than independant orders. If you would like to discuss this, I would be happy to talk to you about this, over the phone or online.

There has been a huge demand on our manufacturer to produce the intakes and we are catching up on orders currently. We do appologize for any tardiness in delivery, but do not believe we've told anyone lies. Our shipments get delayed from time to time due to things like customs (like the London headers) or manufacturer backlog/error. We get timelines just like you, which are sometimes delayed and placed out of our hands. Telling people, "We don't know when they'll get in" isn't an acceptible answer, so we go off of what our manufacturer tells us for a product arrival timeline. But if that gets skewed, so do we. For now, we would prefer to give people ideas of when products are arriving rather than give no response at all. But that is always open to discussion and change.

Also to note, is that both Randy and George are on a learning curve. They are still learning how to be an effective independant merchant as well as stroke their vendor/dealer relationships with each other and others. I think both have cleaned up operations to provide better service but there's always room to grow. Madness has recently changed it's shipping person to hopefully speed things up. Things like that.

But honestly, if there's something I can't stress enough .... if you have a beef with someone/something, give that merchant/person/vendor a call. We can't examine/help/fix/resolve an issue unless you tell us about it. Ok?

Much love

R

I didn't order from Madness, Randy did, and he's getting jerked around. when Madness tells Randy they shipped my parts, and I never get the parts, or tracjking numbers, or a frigging I'm sorry, well, I can feel the love XXOO.
I ahve called Randy frequently, and I am NOT going to get jammed up between a jobber and a vendor. My service industry is pediatric medicine, and when I tell a parent I'm going to do something, I do it, whether it be a procedure, or getting a little kid a sticker. I asked a question in the first post, and discovered this is SOP for a vendor.
I guess I'll go drive my other cars and be thankful that 95 % of the vendors I deal with are honest, timely, and sincere.
I'm sure the product will be great, but begging is not part of the process.
Davbret, before you accuse me of being unfair, or calling people liars, read the thread on Mini2. I have been dealing with vendors for 25-30 years, and this is quite obviously not an isolated problem, which is what I was trying to find out.
So, are you speaking for Madness, or what? If so, please post my tracking #'s, so everyone can see how you guys are trying to catch up!!!
Kisses

Is there someone from Madness answering the phones now? In the past when I called I got an answering service. Leaving a message for a call back repeatedly was rather frustrating. So I'm wondering if it's any easier these days to actually get ahold of George/Ryan/et al. at MINI Madness these days.
