G Tec Pro accuracy.

As there are no dynos in my area to check how much HP have I gained in my mods, how does the G Tech or Beltronics measure up in the HP calculation compared to dynometers? With my current mods (see my sig), I am guessing to be around 195-200 HP & 175-180 torque...am I in the ballpark?

My second question: are these devices accurate in the 0-60, 1/4 mile, braking distance, etc... Any members who have this toy? Thanks.

One of the big magazines (Car & Driver or Road & Track) compared the G-Tech to their megabuck measuring equipment, and it compared well.

For the horsepower and torque measurements, you have to enter in the accurate weight of the car plus everything in it.

I have the G-Tech Pro RR, but I only use it for lateral/braking g-force measurements, so I don't know how it would compare to my dyno charts for the car.

Keep in mind that the horsepower/torque numbers from the G-tech will account for wind resistance, whereas a chassis dyno won't.

Lastly, if you get the G-Tech, beware that it doesn't reliably sense the engine RPM through the MINI's cigar lighter - you'll need to hard-wire it to an unfiltered +12V source.

Thanks but what do you mean by entering "everything on it"?

I just meant that you have to make sure you include your own body weight along with the car's weight when you enter the vehicle weight in the G-Tech.

I have one, and it's fairly in the ballpark. You have to be on level ground, and make at least three runs. Take the average, and it's fairly accurate. Best used for measuring deltas on pre and post mods. Fun toy though.

The Gtech is NOT a measurement of crank or wheel HP/TQ so the numbers will be lower HOWEVER it does give you graph curves that are representative of your HP and TQ.

Since I recently dyno'ed, I am about to play with the "GTECH weight registry" to see if I can get my gtech to produce comprable wheel Hp/TQ numbers.

I find a good bit of variance between runs However it is an educational gadget which I have enjoyed.

I feel like the G-tech ProRR is pretty consistent, the variations I see are most likely operator & environment induced, here are a few runs overlayed on each other, and a run that is corrected for drivetrain loss, aero drag & rolling resistance to see how it compares to the OEM claim.

I just found out today that the weighing scales for transport trucks are open to public on weekends according to our driver in the company I work for. I will check it out and compare the weight of my car from the spec.of Mini Cooper S /Sport Package. I will +/- the sway bar & one ball mods I did and use 1/4 full gas.

I used the scales at a local scrap metal/recycle company.
