I'm all about the maximum cheapness. And yeah, it's surprising nice-sounding and deep.

Those were nice videos RedSkunk! Much better audio quality than I could pull off- my video didn't do it justice. I don't know if you got your exhaust refitted after your first attempt or not, but it looks PDG to me!

The exhaust does sound deeper in person. The throaty idle is the sweetest part IMO, but still good all around. If you have a good exhaust place it's probably worth it, but still not easy...I'm glad I did it.

As for the droning. I guess I have to say that I was expecting a really bad drone on the highway after I'd driven around some windy roads for a bit- so when I went on the highway it wasn't quite as loud as I'd thought (still a drone though). Many people complain about aftermarket exhausts droning, as you know, and this one is no different than the others in that respect. I guess that's just the nature of the beast!

Anyone else thinking of getting it?

I was thinking about it, but the fitment issues have scared me off, at least for now. If it was something I could do on my own, I would. But if I have to find an installer to custom fit it, that's too much hassle for now (beyond my threshold of pain at the moment... )

Thanks for the writeups though! I may still do it when I have time to take it somewhere...

Actually, it is back on Amazon. I ordered, and received one. And bailed after I saw just how extreme the fitting issues are. TCSportline issued me a call tag to accept return. I wish I'd noticed this thread prior. Perhaps their draftsman will get a new glasses prescription.

I would cheerfully deal with them again, should they re-engineer the product. The corporate method these days seems to be to rush products into production before it has even thoroughly tested. QC? We will see how quickly my refund is processed once they recieve it.

And for my next trick, I should have the newly released Ireland Engineering system by Friday. (where the hell IS Duarte?) I will post after it is in. I do hope that the resonator is not routed through the glovebox.

Any word on how the install went on your 02'? I think im gonna buy this system and my main concern is if my wife will hate it... She likes how the rally car sounds, but she has a helmet on when she is sitting in the right seat.... We plan to share this car to replace my 170k mile golf.

I grabbed a buy it now on eBay yesterday for $319 shipped. I have an 04' so I'm not too worried about fit.

I ALSO BOUGHT THIS SYSTEM AND IT WAS WAY OFF HANGERS! THE TIPS! LOOKED GREAT AND WAS VERY PLEASED WITH QUALITY TILL I WENT TO INSTALL.
MY PERSONAL OPIONION IS NOW BUY A BETTER EXHAUST AND SAVE THE TROUBLE. I ENDED UP WITH AN INVIDIA. IT BOLTED UP WITH NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. I HAD CATLESS HEADER FOR ABOUT A MONTH BUT WAS WAY WAY TO LOUD. PUT STOCK HEADER BACK AND IT SOUNDS GREAT AND LEGAL. THATS MY 2 CENTS

Yeah it might not be worth the trouble for most, especially if you are going to do a DIY install.

The etched tips look amazing though...and the sound is still great! The glasspack hasn't started sounding bad yet.

Well I got the system and I cant say im impressed with any part of it... The hangers are all different and of course two are pointing 90 degrees off from what they should be... The center pipe was welded incorrectly so the slight kick that is ment to go up goes to the side... It appears that that dont event build this thing on a jig? They just grab some pipes and welded it up.. If I had to swap the brackets it would be one thing, but there is plenty of other issues with the system and its not worth the effort... I will stick with stock for now and ship this turd back to them... Should have listened...
