Crankshaft pulley

Hey guys. I am going to get an aftermarket crankshaft pulley so this thread doesn't need to be a debate on whether it is a bad idea or not but my question is whether or not to go with the 2% or Stock size. Just wanted to get some input as I will making this purchase shortly. Other than what is in my sig everything else is stock. Thanks guys!

Go with the 2%. I also have a 03 and was told it helps with the low end torque that our transmission lacks compared to the 05 and up . Have had no probs with mine

I guess my main concern is the extra heat that will be produced and having the stock header. I am def. leaning the 2% way though. Thanks for the reply

So the 2% is a larger or smaller pulley? I would like to see a larger than oem crank pulley. Would that not translate into spinning the SC faster?

0% [with a 15% s/c pulley] is still the ticket. Anything "more" is just over-driving your accessories, not to mention creating hotter IAT's than power. You might be able to make a case for a larger crank pulley if you only drive around town, but if you track your car, it's not worth the heat.

Ah, Ryephile. I was going to send you a PM. A trusted member told me to ask YOU about this. I only use my car as a daily driver and I dont ever plan tracking my car. I mean of course I drive on the highway as well. Would you still say go with the 0%?

Personally I run a 15% s/c with a 0% crank pulley. It's great around town and will not cause any problems on the track. Considering your relatively warm location, I would recommend the same setup for you. If you want a bit more boost at lower RPM, I'd recommend a 17% s/c pulley versus a larger crank pulley.

I hope that helps, and good luck!

Changing the Crank Pulley

Understand that you are changing the crank pulley, so no debate, fine. However, since you have decided on 0% size change, you may want to consider a purchase of an '05 or '06 model OEM pulley. It saves significant weight over the '03 version, but definitely not as light as aftermarket. Of course, it will also have the dampner function, being OEM. Some one these forums believe that is absolutely critical, definitely not all though. As you know, this is hot item for debate.

You may be able to find a slightly pre-owned OEM '05 or '06 crank pulley for much less than new aftermarket, if you are looking for a less expensive option.

BTW, a very easy swap through the passenger wheel opening.

Good Luck, and if you go with a 0% this will NOT affect your upcoming tune in anyway. Something else to consider. From a perf standpoint, this change would be like removing weight from the car.

I read somewhere that most aftermarket crank pulleys are so much lighter than stock that it's about the same as taking 100 lbs. off your car
