Track days on Tires
Track days on Tires
Interested in hearing how many track days / heat cycles people are getting out of there Direzza Star Specs or other track tires. I have 8 days on my 205/50R15's at WGI, Tremblant and NHMS and they have lots of tread left.
I have 9 days on my Hankook RE2s. They have some tread left but get so greasy that I'm noticeably off pace unless I'm just nailing corners. The margin of grip I used to have for correcting has gone away. I swapped back to another 200 treadwear tire (I use for daily driving- mid wear, no heat cycles) and was instantly much faster.
I get about 8-9 track days on the Dunlop Star Specs. My problem was with chunking as well as wear. I could probably get one more day out of it but they were at the wear indicators.
PS: These were used on the street as well.

6 days on the Direzzas so far, Laguna Seca, Infineon (Sears Point) and Thunderhill. 4 of those the wife was driving as well, so it may be the equivalent of 10 days. Down to 3-4mm, not much left in them.
Nitto 01 225/45/15: 4 days at blackhawk, 2 at autobahn, 2 at Road America, going to run them one more day at Road America, but they're on their last legs, they've definitely lost grip, and although they're not corded, they're getting close (if it was the first event of the year I'd replace them, but this is the last one, with passengers, so I won't be pushing it anyway). I did run my Azeni's for a few sessions at Blackhawk and Autobahn due to rain though.
NT-01s last 3 DE weekends on our local tracks. That's 24 25 minute sessions.
Some folks can stretch them to 4 or 5 weekends.
