2 Step

Ok, i have my slicks broken in and i went to the track tonight.

i wasnt running too hot, i think i need to drop it from a bit higher rpm...

Im thinking of investing in a 2 step to help make my runs more consistent. anyone have any experience with wiring in a 2 step without an MSD ignition box? all their diagrams show wiring straight into the MDS box.

also, what are you guys launching at with slicks?

you sure you can put a 2 step on it with the blower?

ive heard before of someone putting 2 step on a car with a blower and it blew it up. Something about it forcing all that air down in the cylinder and not giving that cylinder a spark and it blew it up.

But if im wrong someone correct me.

And im big into drag racing and i have a S/C'd motor myself and i dont run a 2 step on it.

I'm big into drag racing too, but I want to see consistent 13.5's, and revving it to "about" 6 grand and dropping it wont get me any consitent times.

All it really is is a fancy rev limiter.....

now that i think aboit it, once i got into boost at the line, and the car wasnt going anywhere, the bypass should open up, so i wouldnt even be lauching in boost.

ahh... but you don't need to launch a 6 grand to run 13.2's

I launched under 4K rpms... it can be done... ohhh yes... it can be done...

not sure what your mods are... but this was with a cylinder head, 15% pulley, header, exhaust, CAI... mmm... i think that about sums it up

good luck!

On 24.5x8x15 Mickey Thompson ET Drag slicks I launched at redline. Not for the faint of heart. However I pulled off a 1.76 60' time with no limited slip.

24.5's eh?

I went with the 22x8x15's instead... I wasnt sure how tall i could go and still be on the safe side.

Do you bounce off the rev limiter at the launch or just hold it at redline?

I'm still learning slicks on a FWD car. i had to throw out all my experience in racing rwd with slicks to run this thing, lol.

hmm... something just doesnt sound right about that....

Got a timeslip to see?

you have to be on street tires, 4k launch with slicks will break an axle...

welcome to about 8-9 months ago...

posted them already quite a while ago... i had 3 or 4 witnesses from this forum that the day (acutally it was night time) when i achieved this... This has already been a proven... i have had about 12 or so passes under 13.80 with this set up... I don't have a scanner... someone else scanned it for me and posted it many moons ago on here... ill see if i can find it...

you are correct... a 4k launch on slicks will likely do that... thats why i launched at under 4k... and i was on soft street tires...

remember... just because others can't do it... doesn't mean that others can't... not saying that you can't do it ever... it will just take some time at the track. I have no doubt that you can get their! Anyone can!

the car was a 14.1 second car before i got into it...
i also have one of the few vipers running 11.50's with just smooth tubes and the cats cut out... many times its the driver

Im not trying to be a cocky jerk or anything like. In all seriousness i wish you the best of luck on getting your times down

You''ve already got one built into the car, push clutch all the way mmash throttle all tthe way 7400rpm 2 step wooohoooooo now drop that clutch pedal like you just dont care.

Clucth lasts about 50 runs didn't break a shaft with over 200 runs on single plate clutch

No, it pulls the motor down to about 1400rpm, quite scary really, with the nitrous I would launch at about 6k and it would pull the motor down to about 4500.

Good luck dont forgte that something is absorbing it and it will be your clutch thus it wont last long it was costing me $10 a run in parts.

My friend who has a Pro Mod car says it cost him $600 a run in consumables, so I started looking at it like that.

Forgot to say if you do your burnout in 2nd and drop the clutch in the water box and FORGET to turn the traction control off it will heat the clutch three times so when you go to shift from 1st to 2nd th eclutch will slip because its had to much heat put in it, so from a cost point of view you're better to drive off the line and take it normal unless you're in competition or embarressed.

I have an excuse being old

No 2nd gear just make sure you dip the clutch as you come out the water when you feel the tyres before / start to grip
